Description and Requirements


As the Advisory Software Engineer, you will work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge technology, to highly available RESTful services, to back-end NodeJs or Java based systems using the latest techniques in Big Data, Machine Learning, and Cloud. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: JavaScript, Angular, REST, JSON, XML, HTML / HTML5, CSS, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Apache Flink, Serverless development, VR technology stack, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few. You’ll be part of a highly dynamic agile software development team and will be involved in the solution design from the conceptual stages through the development cycle and deployments. You will ensure that the development processes, architecture, and standards are followed. You will also be responsible for the code quality, adherence to the delivery schedule, and secured programming practices. The focus of this role is to take a lead on solution designing and its implementation. There is also an emphasis on mentoring junior software development staff and helping them with their professional development.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead software development efforts on Lenovo Solution Management platforms and vertical solution offering and proof-of-concept development.
  • Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
  • Continuously improve software engineering practices
  • Knowledge/Experience in working in Amazon web services environment
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions using REST web services and AWS Cloud
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Minimize roadblocks and maximize opportunities to keep all members of the team productive, engaged, and fulfilled in their roles.
  • Bring a deep understanding of programming approaches with a broad knowledge of large-scale, SaaS application development.
  • You will regularly discuss short and long-term architectural objectives and occasionally advise on solutions approach, where applicable.
  • Proactively engage managers and leads across the Engineering Organization to ensure development is meeting the needs of customers both internal and external.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in developing web-based applications.
  • Working experience in Agile Scrum team.
  • Knowledge in the design, development, and use of component-based architectures, preferably Angular and React.
  • Expertise in Modern web app building and testing frameworks (e.g., NodeJs, Websocket, REST, MQQT, RabbitMq, AWS CDK, karma, and/or jasmine)
  • Expertise in HTML5, CSS, and CSS preprocessors (Sass or Less)
  • Experience working in teams with a heavy emphasis on automation and quality (CI/CD)
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers
  • Comfortable working with a remote team operating in multiple time zones

Preferred Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills across the board, with a passion for finding and sharing best practices and driving greater discipline across organizations
  • Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills in a software test environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • AWS certifications are a big plus
