If you are passionate about understanding consumer behaviors/needs and would like to use research to unlock consumer insights to drive the design & innovation of Lenovo’s award-winning intelligent devices portfolio (including PC, Chromebook, Tablet, Connected Smart devices, etc.), we would like to invite you to work in Lenovo’s Experience Design Group under the Advanced Innovation Center (AIC), located in Shanghai, China.

As an Advisory Researcher in Lenovo’s Experience Design Group, you will have the opportunity to develop your research career as a member of a world-class design organization. Responsibilities:

Being a critical component of the renowned Experience Design Group which takes in 50+ design awards globally every year, you will not only work together with a team of diversified and talented consumer researchers, but also will closely collaborate with many cross-disciplinary teams, including Strategic Design, Industrial Design, Color, Material & Finish Design, as well as Project Planning and Development. Your research expertise and insightful deliverables will provide great contribution to consumer-centric, groundbreaking design strategy and solutions for Lenovo’s 15+ billion Consumer and SMB business.

As an Advisory Researcher, you will lead consumer-centric research projects to identify new consumption and industry trend, uncover actionable consumer insights, and explore innovation opportunities.

You will also guide and coach junior researchers, to deliver high quality work and make great impact to influence and inform critical business, portfolio, and product decisions. This role reports directly to the Sr. Research Manager of the consumer research team.

Job Requirements:

  • Develop sound research plan based on the good understanding of Lenovo business and research objectives
  • Lead both qualitative and quantitative research projects to uncover actionable consumer insights
  • Experienced with various research methodologies and types, including both desk research and ad-hoc research (U&A, innovation, concept testing, immersion & ethnos)
  • Able to effectively present research findings and provide valuable recommendations and solutions to support product and business decision
  • Guide and coach junior researchers and oversee the project execution, effectively manage research agencies to achieve research goals
  • Build strong partnership with internal cross-functional teams, and external agencies
  • Comfortable working in the face of ambiguity, and able to solve immediate needs in balance with the long-term vision
  • Ability to travel for research, attendance at conferences, or internal meetings

Qualifications:

  • Master degree or higher in consumer behavior, psychology, sociology, marketing, or human-factor engineering related majors
  • 5-7 years experience in market and consumer research, servicing consumer electronics or consumer goods industry
  • Rich experience in both quantitative and qualitative research, including questionnaire design, data analysis, moderation of IDIs and FGDs, and workshops will be a plus.
  • Strong project management and ability to plan and prioritize work to meet commitments and identify, employ resources needed to achieve results
  • Native-level Chinese proficiency, advanced English proficiency with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Passionate about consumer research and technology, attention to details, and good at discovering consumer insights
  • Strong logical and strategic thinking, open minded for innovative ideas and diverse perspectives
  • Could quickly adapt to a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment.
