About Our Team
We’re looking for a BMC Firmware Engineer for our OpenBMC initiative within the Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) at Lenovo. As a member of the strategic OpenBMC development team you will be working with a group of industry leading team members to create optimized customer solutions to bring to market. With Lenovo’s broad product line, including Cloud Based Servers, IoT Servers, and Enterprise Servers, you will be challenged to do the research and Development required to have a premium OpenBMC offering for each of these critical and growing market segments.
This Position is work from home and can be base anywhere in the United States.
What You'll Do
- You will maintain Lenovo’s OpenBMC meta layer
- You will follow the guidance and direction of the OpenBMC Platform Lead to support development efforts
- You will participate in collaborative planning calls and status meetings
- Assist with Deploying build environment (Docker) and automation test environment
- Assist with daily Build and Pull Request (Merge) support
- Assist with developing and maintaining documentation and source repository strategy
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar degree or related software equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of automation tools.
- 3+ years of BMC development; Design, develop, code, and debug BMC\Firmware by applying knowledge of server hardware architecture and system design.
- Knowledgeable with DevOps and CI/CD experience
- Experienced with setting up Jenkins build pipelines.
- Experience with Yocto, robot framework/Jenkins
- Proficient with Git source version control system: comfortable with common Git workflows, forking, pull requests and code reviews.
- Intimate knowledge of Software development processes, working knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools.
- Experience using JIRA, Confluence and Jenkins.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with multi-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and debug methodology skills expected.
- Proficient at recognizing complex problems related to functional objectives.
- Applies creativity and judgment to developmental work on different projects within the business environment.
- Analyze situations and implement solutions, or develop new system elements, procedures, or processes.
- Ability to engage as an independent professional; articulate and compare alternative approaches.
- Capable of controlling work priorities and methods requiring trade-offs.
- Provides advice in technical/operational domain of specialization.
- Understands departmental mission and vision.
- Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance to Lenovo.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OpenBMC knowledge.
- Containers; ex. Docker, etc.
