Description and Requirements

The Lenovo Global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) team is presently hiring an Advisory Engineer role. This role can be remote and will report to the Principal Engineer and Director of ESG who is based in Morrisville, North Carolina. This role will support Lenovo’s climate change mitigation programs and net-zero vision by providing technical expertise and through execution of key climate-related deliverables. Working with Lenovo’s Corporate Net-Zero Engineer and SMEs across the business, they will help drive Lenovo’s corporate climate change programs including Lenovo’s Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-approved climate mitigation targets and our net-zero vision. 

You will work closely with many parts of the company including global supply chain (operations, procurement, and global logistics teams); product development; real estate; finance; Lenovo Solutions and Services Group (SSG); and many others to help implement and manage our climate change programs at the corporate level. This position requires excellent project management and communications skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively drive change across multiple organizations. You will support Lenovo’s key climate change related deliverables and interactions, including responding to CDP Climate and Supply Chain surveys; developing content for Lenovo’s ESG and Annual Reports; and presenting to and responding to questions from executives, customers, and investors. This role will support execution of Lenovo’s corporate renewable energy commodities purchasing program and will provide guidance to business groups providing carbon offsetting services. 

You will work closely with internal teams, external partners, and industry trade associations to ensure Lenovo remains aligned with best practices for climate change mitigation. You will be expected to manage projects with long and short-term timelines and have an understanding of prioritizing resources and tasks. You will clearly communicate project status, timelines, deliverables, goals, and expectations to their management and other internal stakeholders on a regular basis.

Responsibilities include:

· Manage carbon emissions inventory and related activities, including creating projections for fiscal year emissions based on previous year’s data, projected changes in shipment volumes, and changes to Lenovo’s operational portfolio.

· Manage purchase of renewable energy commodities globally.  Work with partners to ensure commodities meet Lenovo’s standards and external standards including EPEAT requirements. 

· Manage ongoing submission and maintenance of Lenovo’s SBTi-approved climate mitigation targets.  Support teams in calculating emissions related to Scope 1, 2 and 3, with emphasis on use of sold products, transportation, and purchased goods and services.

· Manage submission of CDP Climate and supplier engagement surveys.  Conduct related tasks including climate scenario analysis to support robust CDP submission and provide basis for sound climate change management program.

· Maintain and update internal process documentation related to Lenovo’s climate change programs including Lenovo’s climate change inventory management program.

· Support executive and other presentations and communications related to climate change.

· Participate in awards and leadership programs including but not limited to Green Power Partnership (GPP) and others.

· Support communications and web content providing accurate and timely promotion of Lenovo’s climate change commitments and progress.  Ensure accurate and timely communication of climate change information in Lenovo’s ESG Report, Annual Report, on our website, in response to customer and investor questions, and other areas.

· Manage corporate and Americas responses to customer requests for information related to climate change.

· Participate in industry group meetings and technical committees addressing climate change and related topics. Provide updates to internal teams and management on emerging requirements related to climate change

· Respond to regulatory reporting requests related to carbon emissions including the Hong Kong EPA’s reporting requirements. 

· Interact with real estate and other teams driving onsite renewable energy installations and ensure benefits of these programs are accurately calculated for our emissions inventory and communications.

· Assist extended ESG team members as deemed necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field

· 5+ years of project management, ESG, climate and/or environmental compliance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

· Masters degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field.

· Seven or more years’ experience working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including customers, regulators, non-governmental organizations, product development, operations teams, industry associations, standards bodies, and others

· Knowledge of international frameworks for reporting GHG emissions and carbon related metrics, including WRI and WBCSD frameworks, CDP, and TCFD.

· Experience with renewable energy commodities and trends in this area.

·  Effective working both independently and as a team member; demonstrate autonomy over assigned work while working towards goals shared by the team

· Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail; proficient in data management

· Experience successfully managing projects with multiple deadlines and short- and long-term planning requirements

· Effective presentations skills
