Why Work at Lenovo

Here at Lenovo, we believe in smarter technology that builds a brighter, more sustainable and inclusive future for our customers, colleagues, communities, and the planet.

And we go big. No, not big—huge.

We’re not just a US$70 billion revenue Fortune Global 500 company, we’re one of Fortune’s Most Admired. We’re transforming the world through intelligent transformation, offering the world’s most complete portfolio of smart devices, infrastructure, and solutions. With more than 71,500 employees doing business in 180 markets, we help millions—not just the select few—experience our version of a smarter future.

The one thing that’s missing? Well… you...

Description and Requirements

As an Information Technology Engineer, you engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of IT services, from inception and design, to deployment, operation, and refinement. You use your technology acumen to provide input to evaluate new technologies and contribute to the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services. You contribute to research and proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies and assist with solution architectural, design, and engineering reviews. You support system design consulting, developing service platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and readiness reviews of services before they are Generally Available (GA).

- You write, organize, and maintain systems engineering blueprints and Infrastructure-as-Code based on designs.

- You engineer high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with guidance.

- You participate in structured construction, automation, debugging, and implementation activities, ensuring architectural and operational requirements and best practices are met.

- You participate in disaster recovery planning and disaster recovery activities, participate in functional integration and regression testing and have the ability to automate test scripts.

- You resolve frequently encountered technical issues and monitor systems capacity with minimal assistance. You adhere to change and incident management standards and expectations.

- You'll work closely across multiple internal and external organizations (Lenovo product engineering, business development, sales, marketing, partners, and internal technical communities) to position Lenovo for our most strategic opportunities and guide the value proposition and benefit to those stakeholders. A keen sense of ownership, a bias for action, drive, curiosity, and scrappiness are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT Enterprise Architects to develop roadmaps from strategy documents, carry out regular roadmap reviews, and own delivery of roadmap implementation projects.
  • Create innovative Lenovo TruScale engineering solutions and designs within defined standards and architectures, ensuring that methods work holistically within more comprehensive solutions.
  • Create build instructions for engineering designs, and support operations teams during implementation.
  • Incorporate security-by-design into all solutions, ensuring that security requirements are considered concurrently with technical requirements.
  • Practice and promote a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) culture to improve and operate TruScale service offerings to the enterprise while working toward innovation, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Develop a base cross-functional technical knowledge allowing holistic thinking during design processes.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes and propose improvement activities.
  • Create standardized processes and delivery methods to fulfill incoming demand.

About You

The role will suit an individual who enjoys working collaboratively with Engineers and Architects to create holistic solutions incorporating a wide range of systems and technologies and who can bring creativity to the solutioning process. You will work closely with other Developers, Testers, and Engineers who have specialized skills while cross-training within Lenovo’s TruScale core technologies. Both they and you, will constantly be learning from each other.
