About the job

Lenovo is hiring a Legal Counsel, based in Milan, to be part of our EMEA Legal Centre of Excellence (COE) Team, the Lenovo’s contracts and negotiations team for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Your primary responsibility will be providing legal support for contracts and negotiations in Italy, with a focus on public sector, in addition to supporting different countries (for example Spain) based, on the your skills, ambitions and background.

The successful candidate will provide legal support for commercial transactions, making use of management tools to deliver legal work, helping the company achieve business success whilst balancing and managing legal risks

These are your detailed responsibilities:

  • draft and negotiate a high volume of complex technology, sales and partnering agreements (e.g. DaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Master Purchase Agreement), vendor and supplier agreements, and a variety of other commercial contracts including confidentiality agreements, license agreements, data processing agreements, professional services agreements, assignments, and amendments for all Lenovo business lines in Italy: Intelligent Devices (PC, Smart Devices and Smartphones), Infrastructure Solution (Server & Storage), Service Solution (Services);
  • advise on public procurement code contracts/tender procedures and draft documents, acts or agreements related to public procurement contracts tender, execution, advice and negotiate RTI related documentation, subcontracting agreements, and provide risk assessment on public procurement procedure;
  • develop and implement legal efficiencies to support business teams and improve contract processes and operations, and regularly review existing, and drive creation of, new template agreements and negotiation playbooks to drive efficiency in negotiations;
  • communicating effectively, in a manner that is readily understandable, about legal and business matters, providing good risk/benefit analysis and guidance to internal stakeholders;
  • the position will require intensive collaboration with fellow internal legal counsels within EMEA, including subject matter experts across various specialist areas of law,  technology experts, marketing and sales leaders, product developers, as well as with Lenovo’s customers and suppliers during contract negotiations.

Our ideal candidate has the following skill sets and characteristics:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school in Italy;  
  • Italian (native speaker level) and English (business proficiency) both in writing (particularly in legal drafting) and speaking;
  • 4+ years of legal experience within an international environment in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of agreements, particularly within the technology products and services industry;
  • Experience and strong knowledge of Italian public procurement code and related administrative law and procedures;
  • Spanish as additional language and related contract drafting and negotiations skills would be an advantage;
  • Proven track record in building strong, trust-based relationships with internal clients;
  • Ability to interface with customers and members of large organizations and across multiple functions;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle the competing demands of business clients;
  • Client service and results-orientated.
