Description and Requirements



Can you provide advice and counsel to our business teams, security partners, legal team, and other groups and functions? These teams are responsible for ensuring the responsible use and protection of customer, user, and partner personal data and other information. 

In this role you will work in our Legal Department’s Privacy & Data Protection Team and report to our Global Privacy Leader. You will have a dotted line relationship to the Services & Solutions Group (SSG) General Counsel. 

Job Responsibilities (Essential functions and duties): 

·       Lead pre-launch privacy reviews and assessments for Lenovo’s solutions and services across PC, mobile, infrastructure, and smart verticals, including attached services, managed services, and as-a-Service offerings.

·       Monitor, analyze, and report on privacy and data protection legal, regulatory and policy developments and advise on requirements and standards that may affect Lenovo SSG, its business functions, customer relationships, and its supply chain.

·       Lead and/or support important company-wide projects to design and execute Lenovo’s privacy and data protection policies and data governance strategies to meet global legal requirements, industry standards, and customer requirements.

·        Provide advice and counsel on privacy and data protection incident investigations and response and mitigation workstreams in partnership with Lenovo’s security teams and other stakeholders.

·        Provide advice and counsel on the privacy and data protection aspects of customer, supplier, and partner agreements.

·        Design and execute privacy and data protection education and awareness training and resources for SSG and the Lenovo community at large.

·        Participate in additional Global Privacy & Data Protection Program and SSG Legal Team projects and initiatives.

Job Requirements – Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies (KSAC’s): 

·        The successful candidate will have experience in providing privacy and legal support in connection with software, services, and solutions, including attached services, managed services, and as-a-Service offerings.  

·        The successful candidate will work closely and direct support a range of stakeholders internally including, but not limited to, other legal department groups; information, product, and physical security teams; products and services development; marketing and sales; customer service; information technology; and supply chain and procurement. 

·        The successful candidate may also work with external parties to the extent necessary, including outside counsel, customers, suppliers, and law enforcement and government agencies. 

·        The successful candidate will need to have effective written and verbal skills, and experience in communicating complex issues to business teams and senior leaders; as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and diverse organization.

·        The successful candidate will need to have strong analytical skills and will need to solve a multitude of very complex legal, regulatory, compliance, and strategic problems daily.  In addition, the successful candidate will need to have demonstrable project management skills and the ability to see projects through to completion via a mix of determination, patience, and creativity.

Job Requirements – Prior work experience 

·        At least 8 years of direct experience in privacy and/or data protection law, preferably within a global multinational and customer-focused company.

Educational Requirements:

·        JD from accredited law school.

·        Licensed to practice law in either a United Kingdom or European Union jurisdiction.

 Travel Requirements:

·        10% travel expected
