What You’ll Do: 

We are hiring a Hardware Development Engineer in the ThinkSystem Development organization in Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Product Group (ISG). This is an exciting role in the Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter. The engineer in this role will part of a group of engineers whose responsibility is to drive new and efficient designs that support a common architecture across the ThinkSystem server portfolio. Opportunities on the team include developing innovative and complex designs on leading edge technologies in the x86 and AMD server industry. This role will have a focus on the memory subsystem of new Intel and AMD-based server designs as well as opportunities to be engaged on other new technologies as part of this engineering team. The engineer will perform activities including component selection, schematic design, support of PCB layout floor-planning/routing and early power-on qualification. The ThinkSystem portfolio provides exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands now and in the future. This candidate will become an active member of the development team that is highly motivated to engage, understand and solve the technical challenges of today and shape the server designs of tomorrow.

Required skills: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering. 
  • 5+ years of experience in system architecture design. 
  • 5+ year of experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation and the support of physical design activity. 
  • Strong knowledge of various signaling interfaces, including DDR4/5, PCIe, xGMI and UPI. 
  • Ability to triage and resolve medium to complex issues as well as experience in defining and performing low level hardware validation. 
  • Demonstrate experience with various engineering tools, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debug and error injection tools. 
  • Strong teamwork experience to co-develop server subsystems with a team of highly motivated engineers. 
  • Fluency in the English language, both verbal and written.

Preferred skills: 

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related engineering field. 
  • 10+ years of experience in power electronics design, simulation, validation and troubleshooting.
  • X86 or AMD-based server design experience is preferred. 
  • Collaboration experience on projects across a global development organization.
