Description and Requirements

This position is in world-wide OS Enablement team, SW & Solution Group of ISG Product Development in Lenovo. To catch up the industry new technology, he/she needs to work with Linux upstream as well as leading IHV like Intel and OSV like Red Hat to build up innovative features for the next generation Data Center. The good candidate will have wide and deep knowledge of x86 architecture, Linux kernel, driver, firmware etc. (or one of areas) and have passion to do troubleshooting and kernel development.

Job Descriptions:

As an Linux Kernel Engineer, debug on OS related issues, e.g. kernel panic, hang, etc.. Fix issue and push patch to Linux community. Work with Linux distribution vendors to make sure Lenovo’s feature request and bug fix could be in the next release. Work on kernel feature enhancement or new development, and upstream code. Write technical white paper to promote Lenovo’s products. Provide support to critical customer issues. Lead on innovation, have patents.


  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Linux kernel level development or debugging. Familiar with gdb, kdump to do debug. 
  • Programming language including C, Python and shell are required. Familiar with block device and storage subsystem. 
  • Familiar with ext4, xfs, btrfs. 
  • Familiar with x86 or ARM architecture. 
  • With BIOS background is preferred. 
  • Understand ACPI, SMBIOS, PCIE. 
  • With driver development experience is preferred. 
  • Strong analytical ability and debugging skills. 
  • Ability to handle multi-task. 
  • Good communication skill. 
  • Ability to work with multiple functions. 
  • Good English in spoken and written. 
  • Highly self-motivated person able to drive issue fix.
