About Lenovo Media Centre of Excellence (COE)

The Global Media Center of Excellence (COE) oversees advertising for the entire organization, positively impacting the efficacy of our media plans for Lenovo marketers globally. Operating as a hybrid model, the COE is positioned between Lenovo’s marketing teams and external partners to look after the entire process from campaign planning, media buying and execution, to analysis and insights collection. The Global Media COE works collaboratively to optimize the efficiency of our media investments, performance, processes and workflows.

About the Role

The role of the NA Director – Media COE reports to the Global Media COE Director with a dotted line to the CMO and Global Media COE Leader.

The role holds overall responsibility for strategy setting and executing a hybrid-operating model in-sync with our agency and external business partners across the region. The role will be responsible for leading, managing and developing and executing processes and best practices with the global COE management team.

We are at the beginning of our marketing transformation process, the COE acts and moves like a start-up within a large organisation.

To guarantee success in this role, you must have a thorough knowledge of agency-side practices and processes, possess a structured and well-organized approach to your tasks with a creative, forward-thinking attitude. You will be the trusted person for our marketing leaders, agency colleagues, tech and data partners. 

Above all, you should be able to think creatively and out of the box with a deep understanding of the digital value chain rounding off your profile.

What Will You Do?

  • Lead and further develop a world-class NA Media team in charge of both Online and Offline media buys through a hybrid model that includes both an in-house team and external agency partners
  • Manage advertising campaign set up and execution across NA and Business Units, including the Motorola brand
  • Establish all best practices digital media processes to drive campaigns with efficiency and effectiveness, adopting a Test-Learn-Iterate approach for continuous optimization
  • Mage ad-tech platforms partners (CDPs, DSPs, SSPs, ad-servers) and drive changes when needed
  • Interface with analytics team to support the translation of paid media data gathering into customer insights, backing the marketing team evolution towards a customer-centric approach
  • Negotiate long-term partnerships with media owners with the objective to drive transparency and optimal control over the value chain
  • Build solid relationships in the industry across both online and traditional media publishers and platforms to drive efficiency
  • Keeps up to date with the fast-changing industry technology evolutions
  • Interface with local Marketing Directors to ensure the efficacy of strategic media strategy and execution
  • Talk on a regular basis with the NA executive team as well as with the Global Director Media COE for media strategy updates and performance vs targets
  • Mage brand KPIs together with Consumer and Business Marketing Teams
  • Maintain brand standards and tone of voice, ensuring effective communication, with attention to detail and accuracy

Your Profile:

  • You are a senior marketing leader with a minimum of 15+ years of media experience in both the offline and online worlds in a European or global context, working with publishers, brands, media agencies and ad tech companies
  • A well-rounded professional with experience beyond media/advertising and that has held roles in other areas of marketing and sales
  • Understands the big picture marketing strategy and can effectively handle discussions and negotiations with local marketing leaders
  • You master digital media practices across the different stages of the marketing funnel
  • Has an overall knowledge of the ad tech platforms stack, CDPs, DMP, DSPs, SSPs, how they work and how they can be optimized to carve out the optimal result
  • Commercially driven mindset with experience in developing business models for online advertising and how to construct contracts "in the right way for Lenovo"
  • Knows all the core dynamics of offline media buy negotiations
  • Has a demonstrable track record of successfully building and managing teams in the advertising/media space
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial like mindset and can-do attitude, startup experience in ad-tech companies a huge plus 
  • Personal network across the ad tech industry knows how to get truly added-value advice to get first-hand information around best industry practices
  • Ability to establish executive-level long-term relationships in the media industry
