Description and Requirements

Position Description:

Lenovo’s Commercial PC organization is currently hiring an OEM Solution Project Manager.  The OEM business model is focused on selling Lenovo products and services to OEM customers who will incorporate them into their solutions to create unique products, sold to their end customers. Some customer solutions require customization of Lenovo standard products. These requirements from OEM customers drives the need for coordination of the development and customization process for these opportunities.

The OEM Solutions Project Manager will be responsible for working cross functionally to develop execution plans for complex customization requests, build business cases to support customization work, and then lead projects through development to production start/shipment to customer.  Successful delivery of the solution requires a strong understanding of the customer pain points and the ability to address those pain points with solution requirements communicated to the internal functional teams responsible for delivering those aspects of the solution.  This role will be the primary interface between the customer project team, Lenovo product teams, and Lenovo sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and classify customization requests as defined by OEM
  • Interlock with geo sales teams and engineering to develop solutions to meet customer needs
  • Engage with customers to validate and refine solution requirements
  • Establish work streams for each complex customization request
  • Identify cross-functional owners for each request work item
  • Develop business cases, where needed, for complex customization requests
  • Interlock with stakeholders to communicate progress, risks, and gain business case approvals
  • Develop project charter, schedule, financials, & scope
  • Project management of multiple function work items to ensure attainment of project deadlines
  • Drive regular interlock with customer’s project team to ensure alignment on project
  • Collaborate with services to drive any unique service solutions, sales to ensure proper expectation setting with customer and communicate pricing impacts of customization

The successful candidate will have the ability to influence and maintain open communication with multiple teams including geo sales and sales operations teams, OEM solution architects and engineers, product and development teams, commercial operations, and services organizations. This role requires strong leadership and project management skills to drive plans for an evolving business model.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field relating to project management
  • 5+ years of program/project management experience – PMP a plus
  • Ability to work cross functionally across multiple organizations
  • Spirit of entrepreneurship requiring high-energy, proactive style, teaming, and collaboration
  • Strong process orientation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with WW team members, drive WW projects
  • Ability to work across multiple geographies and time zones to drive project execution
  • Knowledge of Lenovo product development and sales enablement processes beneficial
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese required
