Description and Requirements

About Our Team

We are looking for a Power Test Engineer in Lenovo's Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG). ISG is partnering with the world’s leading Cloud Service Providers in innovating the future-defined data center. From the simplest to the most complex IT environments for all types of workloads, our servers, storage, networking solutions help maximize the potential of data centers.

This role is based at Lenovo's North America Headquarters in Morrisville, NC. Relocation assistance is available. 


What You'll Do

  • Work closely with a multi-functional server development and validation team to support power solutions delivery and qualification at unit, server, and rack level
  • Study customer power test requirement and specification document, research test methodology, create detailed test plan
  • Set up test environment (both software and hardware), perform tests following customers' requirements, troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise, analyze test data, compose official reports
  • Discuss with customers on technical details and new requirements being a power subject expert

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience or equivalent in server and rack power system test
  • 3+ years of experience or equivalent in AC-DC, DC-DC, single phase and three phase power supply test
  • Deep understanding of power quality parameters including efficiency, PF, THD, slew rate, etc.
  • Working experience with test equipment including programmable DC/AC source, oscilloscope, power analyzer, signal generator, DAQ, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience or equivalent in server and rack power system design and development
  • 3+ years of experience or equivalent in AC-DC, DC-DC, single phase and three phase power supply design and development
  • Familiar with x86 platform server architecture
  • Knowledge of data center power infrastructure and delivery
  • Knowledge of Battery Backup Unit (BBU) and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system
  • Experience in PDU/PDMU/Power Shelf test is a plus
  • Familiar with ITIC compliance and standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced group, Attention to details, Excellent communication skills
