The Product Marketing organization plays the lead role in defining product value propositions, ensuring that products launch successfully and perform well in the market. This role has a high level of visibility across the organization, working with engineering and product management to define next-generation smartphones/features and all downstream marketing teams to bring the product story to life for consumers.

As a Product Marketing Manager you’ll be responsible for smartphones under the Motorola brand. This role is critical in making sure the Marketing and PR teams, and their agencies, are engaged with all facets of the product: product engineering, packaging, product management, operations and sales teams. You’ll serve as the bridge to these groups to ensure a successful product launch.


Scope of Responsibilities

  • Represent the voice of the consumer during the product development process, continually aligning with and providing feedback to product management and engineering partners throughout 
  • Design market intelligence/research to analyze trends, competitive offerings, market segmentation, customer needs, features and benefit trade-offs, etc.
  • Develop value proposition, product positioning, target customer definition, key selling points and features and benefits prioritization
  • Partner with internal creative team to drive development of partner sell-in materials, educating carriers and retailers on latest device value propositions 
  • Author product marketing briefs (PMBs) to be used by all customer-facing functional teams; kick off program with briefing for all integrated marketing functional teams, including agencies
  • Contribute to the development of global launch strategy and go-to-market plans; serve as the single point of contact for all customer-facing functional teams and regions on their respective products
  • Partner closely with PR on all new product introductions, driving the product story via reviewer guides, blog posts and press presentations
  • Participate as subject matter expert in high profile device launch announcements and press briefings
  • Manage and provide oversight during the development of naming and messaging on creative assets
  • Provide oversight for product manuals, user guides and documentation
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience in Marketing, Product Marketing or Product Management
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or equivalent
  • Experience within the consumer electronics (hardware) or handset/mobility marketplace
  • Knowledge of retail and carrier marketing and sales processes on a worldwide level 
  • Must possess a proven ability to achieve results in a fast-moving, dynamic environment
  • Prior project management, cross-functional team management experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills; experience interacting with staff, colleagues, management and cross-functional teams
  • Strategic and analytical thinker who can also operate in detail
  • Possess strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Be proactive, with a strong problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to continually adapt in a very fast paced industry where things are always evolving and changing
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
  • Customer-centric, exhibiting dynamic, motivated, and results-oriented creative thinking
