Description and Requirements

About Our Team

Lenovo's Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) is seeking a Reliability Engineer. This individual will work closely with the Principal Reliability Engineer to perform reliability predictions from part level, platform, and multi-system solutions. The Reliability Engineer will rely heavily on statistics, probability theory, reliability theory, and acceleration theory. The successful candidate must be able to perform statistical analysis of raw reliability test data, create sample size estimations, perform analysis of field data to determine the correctness of the prediction methodologies and make recommendations on reliability process improvements. 

What You'll Do

• Recommend design improvements to maximize system reliability within time, feature, and product cost constraints 

• Develop and establish strategies and methods that improve reliability

• Develop and use reliability processes to implement risk assessments and financial justifications of various design options

• Work closely with development, service, supply-chain and supplier personnel to research and resolve systemic equipment failure related issues

• Interface with both suppliers and clients to provide reliability expertise and complete external requests for reliability data

• Maintain the Expected Reliability (Targeting) tools, and create the reliability targets each year for all servers and commodities

• Train any Apprentice Reliability Engineers in the skills and methods of reliability

• Use reliability tools such as Minitab and Weibull++, Lenovo proprietary and industry standard predictive technologies, and be able to create new tools to support their analysis responsibilities


Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a  Hardware Reliability Engineer

• 4+ years of experience specifically on Servers

• Solid background in computer system designs

• Strong background in statistical methods used by Reliability Engineering

• Expert level in Microsoft Excel, including Visual Basic


Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a Hardware Reliability Engineer on Intel or AMD based Servers

• Self-motivation and proven capability for continuous improvement in skills

• Ability to communicate technical reliability information effectively with personnel at all levels

• Ability to change priorities for multiple commitments, with emphasis on technical problem-solving ability

• Show initiative and work well both independently and in a team environment

• Proven ability to anticipate technical questions and understanding what tools will need created to accomplish the request
