Key Objectives of Position

Software Asset Management Senior Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and governance of all software asset data. Responsible to provide specialized support in software and licensing management, seeking to balance cost optimization and productivity through best market practices and deep knowledge of licensing models. This includes both on-premises and SaaS solutions for end users, as well as ensuring the effective use of SAM tools to maximize value, control compliance, and optimize software utilization across the organization.


Day-To-Day Tasks

  • Oversee projects, service processes, and asset movements to ensure data accuracy in asset management systems
  • Software Certification and Packaging
  • Manage software certification and updates (including patches, hotfixes, plugins, and add-ons) across physical and virtual environments
  • Perform compatibility testing on standard corporate images (Windows, Linux, macOS) and, when required, on mobile platforms (Android/iOS)
  • Execute validation checklists to ensure application security and compliance (e.g., admin privileges, internet access, automation risks)
  • Package and deploy certified applications using enterprise tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune), including virtualization and software distribution via corporate stores
  • Maintain accurate documentation and register certified software in CMDB and SAM tools, ensuring full traceability
  • Record and attach evidence of all tests and validations (logs, reports, screenshots) and manage certification requests, including proactive updates and backlog handling
  • Attend regular customer meetings

Key Competencies Needed

  • Good customer communication skills, verbal and written
  • Possesses and applies more specialized knowledge in hardware and software support technologies
  • Handles intermediate-level tickets, performing diagnosis and fault resolution
  • Understands how their work impacts results within their area
  • Demonstrates knowledge of internal operations and builds relationships to facilitate workflow
  • Prepares detailed technical reports
  • Experience with ITSM toolsets (ServiceNow preferred)
  • Experience with Flexera tool
  • Experience with MS SCCM and MS Intune

Candidate Pre-Requisites

Previous Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience in either an internal or outsourced operation as a SAM Technician

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree completed in an IT related discipline or Technical high school completed with other IT Certifications
  • ITIL Foundations

Mandatory certifications (at least three of the below or equivalent):

  • MD-101: Managing Modern Desktops
  • SC-900: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
  • 20703-1: Administering System Center Configuration Manager
  • 55313AC: Administering Configuration Manager, Part I: Fundamentals and Asset Management
  • LPI Linux Essentials
  • macOS Support Essentials
