Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the IT/ICS Cloud Computing Services team responsible for running the operations of a dynamic and leading-edge OpenStack Cloud Computing infrastructure in multiple data centers and factories. Our compute and storage infrastructure hosts various enterprise engineering, business, finance, HR and supply chain and manufacturing applications that are business critical.  Along with the responsibilities of the position, comes the opportunity to work with a talented IT team and individual growth opportunities technically and professionally.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Provide infrastructure support that enables business units to utilize the latest IT infrastructure technologies to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.  
  • Drive transformation of application hosting to continuously reduce infrastructure cost, increase reliability, elasticity, and compute density. 
  • Partner with application functional leads to anticipate changing business requirements for IT infrastructure services in a fast-paced Lenovo product business environment. 
  • Migrate and consolidate infrastructure across data centers. 
  • Architect and provide infrastructure solutions and road maps based on business requirements.  
  • Implement more self-service capabilities to lower operational cost and improve customer resolution cycle time.  
  • Improve monitoring to respond to service interruptions quicker to minimize business impact. 
  • Evaluate alternate open-source technologies for infrastructure solutions that both reduce operational cost and provide flexibility across various cloud environments.  
  • Improve infrastructure operational efficiency using automation. 
  • Drive towards more vitalization and cloud elasticity. 
  • Respond to infrastructure outages and perform function of recovery administrator to orchestrate support team recovery tasks. 
  • Conduct regular operational reviews and improvement plans. 
  • Perform ITIL process for incident management, change management and problem management.
  • Drive the architecture, build out and migration of a hybrid cloud infrastructure using a combination of on-premises OpenStack, Hyper-V and VMWare farms and GCE, AWS clouds. 
  • Implement the use of orchestration and cloud infrastructure life cycle management tool to effectively manage a hybrid cloud environment which will enable self-service functionality that will improve Dev OP team development cycle times and provide the business advantage of infrastructure elasticity to Lenovo.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related software engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, building, upgrading, and supporting enterprise level virtualization environments (i.e., VMWare, Hyper-V, OpenStack, KVM, GCE, AWS, Azure)
  • 5+ years of experience administering multiple Linux OS (i.e., Red hat and Debian families)  in an enterprise data center environment with strong understanding for Linux virtual networks and virtual storage.
  • 2+ years of experience with two or more of the following:  Microservices, SAML, JSON and Postgres/SQL/No-SQL/MongoDB
  • 2+ years of experience with one or more of the following:  AWS, Kubernetes, Microservices, Containers, Ansible, Terraform
  • 5+ years of experience how to configure servers to attach to SAN and NAS storage and to be able to provision these types of storage.
  • 5+ years of experience with deploying physical servers at an enterprise level and being able to troubleshoot and administer them.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience implementing and maintaining globally distributed, highly redundant, scalable cloud-hosted solutions
  • Familiarity with load and performance testing, and with designing solutions capable of scaling to support high traffic bursts
  • Experience with configuring and administering SAN, NAS, and object storage systems
  • Proficient technical knowledge of data backup solutions such as Rubrik and ComVault
  • Fluency in one or more scripting languages (Perl, PHP, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable with identity management tools such as Power Broker
  • Experience using code management tooling such as Git/SVN/CVS
  • Experience with Level 3 troubleshooting for a range of areas including Cloud Infrastructure (OpenStack) LAN/WAN networking, and network security
  • Experience with NIS+ and Linux clustering.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet and Salt
  • Experience with configuration management and patch management tools such as Salt and BigFix
  • Experience working with front-line technical operations teams (e.g., NOC, SOC)

The base salary range for this position in Colorado, New York City, Nevada and Washington, is $100K - $115K. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission. Lenovo’s various benefits can be found on
