Description and Requirements

Lenovo’s ISG is currently seeking a dynamic experienced System Engineer with knowledge of multiple generations of Intel x86 Architecture and who can work directly with Lenovo’s CSP customers, partners, internal engineering and manufacture team.

The selected candidate will leverage a formidable technical competency, creativity, and a “drive for results” attitude to construct innovative value for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of Intel x86, AMD, Nvidia, FPGA, and ARM based technology roadmaps and understand how this technology can drive future datacenter architecture for industry and worldwide top public cloud customers
  • Work closely with customer engineering teams and Lenovo sales and marketing teams to extract customer requirements
  • Create specifications and collateral that define the next generation CSP platforms
  • Lead CSP development team to work out the design/product customization proposals with

--Product and system Spec

--System architecture and Placement

--Demonstrate Lenovo design and engineering Capability

--Game plan and Development strategy to win customer and business

  • Lead engagement with suppliers and partners of hardware building blocks such as storage devices, network controllers, FPGAs, and other emerging technology hardware devices.
  • As technical lead to work with internal and external engineering team to complete competitive product design and lead the debug activities from schedule/cost/design quality/reliability point of view.
  • Hands on to solve technical issues within Lenovo and from customer side.
  • Own end-to-end product delivery from pre-concept to launch of platforms.

To qualify the candidate must possess the following skills and experience:

Education and Experience

  • Experience in direct customer engagements is required and hands on with fresh technology
  • Undergraduate BSEE or BSCE degree required
  • A Masters degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Must have 5+ years or more work experience in  server and hardware design and development
  • Cloud experience a plus

Technical Skills

  • Ability to understand customer requirements; interpret these requirements and convert them into a competitive HyperScale platform portfolio.
  • Deep knowledge of X86 Intel server architecture.
  • Knowledge of design elements of OCP (Open Compute Project) based HW is a plus
  • Cross discipline understanding of engineering that cover Thermal, Mechanical, Power, Power Management, and TCO of the Datacenter.
  • Proficiency with Linux server operating systems.

Teaming and Communications

  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Ability to interface with Lenovo and customer executives.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead teams and have the autonomy to make decisions
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-culturally across teams in the US and Asia.
