Description and Requirements

Edge server system lead

The role is for a Hardware Development Engineer in the ThinkSystem Development organization in Lenovo’s Datacenter Product Group. The engineer in this role will part of a group of engineers whose responsibility is to develop IOT and edge server portfolio. Opportunities on the team include developing innovative and complex designs on leading edge technologies in the x86 server industry. This role will have a focus on Intel or AMD based server designs within the ThinkSystem portfolio, as well as engagement on multiple other technologies within the server. The engineer will perform activities including schematic design, support of PCB layout floor-planning/routing and early power-on qualification. This candidate will become an active member of the development team that is highly motivated to engage, understand and solve the technical challenges of today and shape the server designs of tomorrow.

Required skills: Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering. 7+ years of experience in system architecture design. Intel server or IPC design experience is preferred. 7+ year of experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation and the support of physical design activity. Strong knowledge of various signaling interfaces, including PCIe, UPI, DDR, SPI Ability to triage and resolve medium to complex issues as well as experience in defining and performing low level hardware validation. Demonstrate experience with various engineering tools, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, simulated load and signal generators. Strong teamwork experience to co-develop server subsystems with a team of highly motivated engineers.

Fluency in the English language, both verbal and written.

Preferred skills: Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related engineering field. 10+ years of experience in power electronics design, simulation, validation and troubleshooting. 10+ year of experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation and the support of physical design activity. Collaboration experience on projects across a global development organization.
