Description and Requirements

Motorola Mobility, A Lenovo Company we’re looking for a talented UX Writer to join our User Experience Design team. The User Experience group is responsible for creating digital experiences for the Motorola smartphone product line. From building the camera app interface, to leading the UX & UI design for the Moto Razr 5G, our team is an essential part of what makes Motorola phones great.

This role is for our Chicago, IL studio. You’ll be joining a global design organization, with offices in Chicago, Brazil, and China. 

  

UX Writer responsibilities

  • Work with designers to ensure app interfaces communicate the experience clearly

  • Collaborate with workpartners to develop in-app written content & copy

  • Write a broad range of succinct, grammatically sound copy in US English — setup, menus, notifications, tutorials, error messages, instructional text, conversational UI, etc.

  • Engage is development process to create, proofread, and refine final material

  • Uphold Motorola editorial standards (including tone and voice). Ensure consistency across all experiences and alignment with Android style guidelines and AP Style

  • Collaborate with our localization team to ensure products are accessible for multiple geographies

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Superior US English proficiency (written and spoken) required

  • 4+ years experience concepting, executing, & presenting online or mobile app content 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in: English, Communications, Journalism, or similar

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience writing for mobile phone software or apps

  • Ability to explain complex ideas in simple ways

  • Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) Style

  • Previous experience in technical writing

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team 

  • Ability to take feedback from peers, and to give feedback to peers

  • Exceptional communication skills (oral, writing, listening, presenting) 

  • Critical thinking & ability to empathize with users / alternate perspectives

  • Ability to drive common understanding within the team, as well as with cross­-functional work partners and senior management
