Description and Requirements
Lenovo Workstations provide powerful solutions to drive productivity, innovation, and design excellence in key vertical segments such as Manufacturing Design, Engineering & CAD, Animation/Media/Web Creation, Science/Medical, Oil & Gas, and Finance.
To maintain our leadership and compete in this aggressive marketplace, we are looking to enhance our team with additional talent. We are currently seeking a Firmware Architect with education and / or experience specifying/designing/maintaining low-level firmware in various building blocks/subsystems within the PC, as well as portions of the main system BIOS.
Responsibilities:
- Understand current and future firmware design points for various subsystems and building blocks within a workstation PC. Some examples include, but are not limited to: Super I/Os, Embedded Controllers, BMCs, storage controllers, LAN controllers, and other subsystems which may utilize low-level microcode
- Create design specifications for the aforementioned firmwares
- Work with suppliers and global Product Delivery teams on the execution/development of the aforementioned firmwares
- Interface with Product Security Office to ensure firmware meets all corporate and industry security standards
- Interlock with suppliers to understand future product roadmaps and design architectures
- Work with our BIOS Architects to ensure seamless firmware & system BIOS interaction
- Provide on-going updates and collaborate with global teams on technical issue resolution.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering
- 7+ years experience with low-level firmware design/development
- Knowledge of PC Systems and their components, including modern microprocessor and embedded controller architectures
- Recognition of the importance of firmware security and ability to design with security in mind
- Skilled in C and Assembly language programming
- Masters degree in Engineering (or related)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience working/interacting with multi-national and cross-functional technical teams
- Good organizational and problem solving skills
- Passion for the PC industry and willingness to innovate
- Flexible schedule - occasional early morning / evening calls with global teams.
