Description and Requirements

IDG (Intelligent Device Group) - The IDG at Lenovo houses our PC and Smart Devices. We combine investment in high-growth segments (workstations, gaming, visuals, thin and light devices) with new innovation in the smart device categories and continue to explore new opportunities across AR/VR, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), security and as-a-service solutions.

Lenovo Workstations provide powerful solutions to drive productivity, innovation, and design excellence in key vertical segments such as Engineering/Architecture/CAD, Media & Entertainment, Science, Medical, Energy, and Finance.

To maintain our leadership and compete in this aggressive marketplace, we are looking to enhance our team with additional talent. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Architect with education and / or experience creating/designing/managing mechanical subsystems within workstation-class PCs.

As part of the Workstation Architecture team, you will be responsible for:

• Understanding current and future mechanical and thermal design trends

• Architecting new mechanical chassis and/or sub-assemblies to be used on future product designs

• Developing mechanical specifications for suppliers

• Working with suppliers and our China-based Product Delivery team on the execution/development of aforementioned mechanical designs

• Interlocking with Lenovo Global Supply chain to optimize design cost

• Providing on-going advice & consul to the China PD team on technical issue resolution.

Position Requirements: - Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering (Masters is a plus)

- At least 10+ years experience in Mechanical design

- Strong knowledge of PC Systems and their components; prior experience in overall system-level design a plus

- Skilled in the use of mechanical design tools including PTC Creo, Pro/E, etc.

- Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes

- Very strong communication skills

- Experience working/interacting with multi-national and cross-functional teams

- Fluent in using Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

- Strong problem solving and organizational skills

- Flexibility in a fast paced changing environment

- Mentoring junior team members

As a global company, Lenovo has relationships with suppliers and teams throughout the world. This position may require morning/evening meetings which occur outside normal working hours, and candidates must be agreeable to a flexible work schedule. Some travel may be required.
