Role & Team Description:

You will be in a team that is responsible for designing the new concept of future products and innovating future technologies. You will be collaborating with engineers of many disciplines, suppliers, and industrial designers.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Execute on early design & process development for innovation Product needs:

●       Mechanical design for innovation product/ test vehicles/mockups, design assistant to Chicago design team.

●       Drive New/Advanced Material and Process investigation/trial/evaluation (w/ local supplier) and optimization.

●       ME risk assessment and DFM review, support product build for solving issues.

●       Document and evaluate process mapping for new designs and initiatives.

●       Identify low cost local supplier capabilities and introduce them to save cost .

●       Drive DFM/quotation/schedule/delivery for the project.

●       Tooling readiness/FOT validation.

Support launch of current product portfolio requirements:

●       Support assembly readiness to meet SA/Ramp.

●       Design/Engineering quality support.

●       Drive test readiness to support Sales Assurance/Ramp.

●       ALT/DVT validation and FA.

Basic Qualifications:

●     Possessing good written and verbal communication skills in English is a must. Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to operate within a team environment. 

●     A BS degree is required. 3+ years’ experience in portable device product design and development. Candidates must understand development & new product introduction processes such as design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis (TA), reliability validation plan, proto build planning & change control, etc. 

●     Have abundant experience on several critical ME processes/technologies, such as multiple bonding technologies, metal housing Nano molding/CNC/anodizing, 3D glass/plastic lens forming/3D printing/lamination, composite implementation, waterproof, etc.

●     Possess analytical problem-solving skills and data acquisition/analysis skills. Candidates must be able to handle difficult problems with different functions and use multiple statistical skills to analyze data, 6 sigma green belt preferred.  

●     Candidates should have knowledge of design engineering, reliability test processes and factory processes, basic computer skills, Pro/Engineer preferred and working knowledge of common business applications. 

●     Good organizational and time management skills, including daily and weekly planning and multitasking and the ability to create/read/interpret engineering drawings along with negotiation skills, presentation skills and ability to effectively conduct meetings. 

●     Pro/E skill is a must.
