Description and Requirements
The Lenovo Design + Innovation team is a global group of highly skilled and talented people doing what we love, designing the very best world-class products. You will be an integral part of the team, working together across continents and cultures in a friendly, fast-paced and inspiring work environment. We are looking to add an Advanced Industrial Designer to our team that will help us visualize and communicate the future of Lenovo.
This role would be a fit for you if you’re passionate, optimistic and an excellent collaborator. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside a variety of disciplines including fellow industrial designers, engineering, UX and software to widen your breadth of knowledge and expand your impact. You’ll report to our Strategic Design & Innovation manager and work closely with our Strategic Design team in crafting the future vision for Lenovo. By studying our customers, global macro trends and emerging technology, you’ll design meaningful experiences across a range of products, visualizing future interactions and crafting stories that will inspire positive change in the industry.
Core responsibilities:
- Work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
- Understand and be willing to utilize all stages of the design thinking process, with a strong emphasis on front-end concept development
- Study design trends, customer insights and emerging technology in order to identify opportunities and solve customer problems
- Ideation, concept visualization, form development, CAD, model making and rapid prototyping
- Craft and communicate product and experiential concept stories in a compelling way
- Plan and prioritize to achieve project goals within set timelines
- Build relationships and appropriately influence relevant internal teams and direct business contacts to achieve short- and long-term goals.
- Work independently as well as take direction and work within established strategic and business guidelines
Basic Requirements:
- A Bachelors degree in Industrial Design
- 3-5 years professional experience
- An excellent portfolio showcasing product & experiential design examples
- Proficiency in MS Office (specifically PowerPoint)
- 2D skills: sketching, fluent Adobe Creative Suite
- 3D skills: Study models, breadboards, proof of principle models and prototypes
- 3D CAD: fluent in SolidWorks and KeyShot
- Masters degree in Industrial Design
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills
- Ability to visualize, craft and articulate complex concepts
