Role & Team Description: 

 This is an exciting opportunity to join Motorola Mobility's Common Platform Software Integration team responsible for overseeing the global software integration process of our Android Software Platform. This role will have technical responsibilities in the R&D team and will heavily interface with all other functional areas to deploy newer versions of our Android platform software globally.


Scope of Responsibilities: 

  • Help determine the optimal architecture & resources to deliver the required contents of our global Android Software Platform with minimal engineering resources.
  • Help debug and drive the resolution of complex issues involving cross-functional components of the Android platform.
  • Help define and construct new products by working directly on the product configuration make files & Android build system.
  • Work directly with other R&D teams providing accurate estimates, risk analysis and change impacts.
  • Follow up and help drive key post-launch issues that are dependent on our Android Common Software Platform.
  • Identify, collect and analyze data related to our software development and productivity environment, like the Continuous Integration & Build System metrics.
  • Identify, design and deploy solutions to improve the SW Development Team quality and productivity, like automating critical tasks and creating best practice guides. 
  • Help expand and improve the "Managing by Data" culture, creating new datasets, dashboards and tools to be used across the whole company, from developers to senior leadership team.


Position Requirements: 

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of Android Architecture and Android Build System is essential.
  • Experience with issue management and triage.
  • Fluent English and strong communication skills.
  • Self managed; ability to work without close supervision.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins, git, Jira and repo
  • Knowledge of Build and Deploy tools like Gnu Make and Bazel


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in software development & integration roles
  • Google cloud experience
  • Experience automating and using tools to collect and analyze large amounts of data
