What You'll Do
The CAD Validation Engineer will utilize 3D CAD tools to validate products are designed for assembly and communicate requirements or issues back to internal teams for BOM alignment.
• Create & procure 3D CAD models of cloud products such as racks, servers, switches, sub-assemblies, and other components
• Understanding and demonstration of CAD, assembly processes, SI manufacturing, NPI development, BOM, validation, labeling, measurement, and documentation on requirements
• Utilize 3D modeling tools to optimize internal and external cabling
• Communicate requirements for BOM, cabling, assembly, and report potential challenges to internal/external teams
• Work with MFG to understand current assembly process for alignment with 3D CAD modeling
• Good knowledge of Excel and VBA programming in Excel or CAD
• Work with internal team to plan part transitions
• Project Management experience
• Perform both sustaining and NPI BOM changes. Assist with transitioning BOM data from one format to another
• Create process documents for current work flows and identify opportunities for efficiency gains, and validation checks.
Location: This role is based in Morrisville, NC.
Basic Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline
• 5+ years CAD (in CREO), BOM/EC work experience in server and hardware development
• Must have experience with server systems or computer system architecture
Preferred Qualifications
• Masters degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering is a plus
• Experience with Creo Cabling is highly desired
• Hyperscale/Cloud experience a plus
• Ability to write code to assist with your daily work activities or other teams work activities.
• Knowledge of server components and parts
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation
• Strong leadership skills and have the ability to make decisions
• Good documentation and organizational skills
• Ability to quickly learn, question, and collaborate on solving problems
• Ability to work effectively cross-culturally across teams in Mexico, US and Asia
