Description and Requirements

We are looking for an experienced Chief Platform Architect with experience spanning both secure hardware and software development. You will work with a cross-functional product and engineering team to define, design, and verify platform, hardware, BIOS and FW security to deliver the next-generation of Lenovo’s hardware.  You will evaluate security threats, define security features, architect security solutions and work across Lenovo’s portfolio of commercial PC’s (i.e. ThinkPad, Workstation) as the Chief Platform Architect. You will also collaborate with the software teams to ensure seamless security systems as well as ensuring future-proof engineering to enable services and solutions on our hardware.  We work together with different silicon teams throughout the entire design flow (e.g. Intel, AMD, QC) as well as with BIOS and FW development.  This is a leadership role with a strong hands-on requirement.

Additonal responsibilities:

  • Able to take product management roadmap and develop secure requirements documents, architecture and interlocking closely with the engineering team
  • Create value-added features on top of firmware and BIOS
  • Author and implement the security architectural specification collaborating with a diverse team across many disciplines including: design, verification, emulation, software, packaging, circuit board and more
  • Gather, analyze and validate measured and simulated results to compare architectural design alternatives
  • Lead and facilitate the complete security architectural implementation across the lifecycle, from concept to delivery, assess and refine implementation and ensure requirements are met
  • Keep abreast of processor, foundry, trust, intellectual property, packaging, standards, trends, tools & methodology and drive strategy
  • Coordinate gap analysis and where needed execute on solutions
  • Innovate and advance the Intellectual Property strategy

The location for this position is flexible, allowing you to work either in-person at Lenovo's Morrisville (Raleigh-Durham) headquarters or remotely within the United States.  No relocation required. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant technical experience
  • 4+ years experience in BIOS and/or Firmware
  • C/C++/C#
  • UEFI design experience, working at the nexus of hardware / firmware
  • Experience in threat modelling and weakness analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Java, Python
  • Past experience working in a global organization


The base salary range for this position in CA, CO, Jersey City - NJ, NV, Ithaca - NY, NYC, WA, is $160K - $200K.  Individuals will also be considered for an annual performance bonus.
