Description and Requirements


Lenovo is seeking a dynamic and experienced Field Product Engineer to serve as the crucial link between our customers, Remote Support, and OEM Partner engineering teams. This position is responsible for managing field issues related to Lenovo's storage systems and connected hosts, ensuring comprehensive problem determination, source isolation, and resolution of complex technical issues. The Field Product Engineer will play a critical role in collaborating with development teams to address design, architectural, and systemic challenges while ensuring effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Lenovo’s field interface to Remote Support and OEM Partner engineering teams, handling escalated technical issues related to storage systems and all connected components.
  • Perform traditional Product Engineering (PE) tasks, including problem determination, source isolation, and resolution for cases impacting storage systems, hosts, and network components.
  • Engage with development teams to analyze complex design and architectural issues, driving these issues to a successful resolution.
  • Manage pervasive field issues, develop action plans, and coordinate with internal teams to communicate updates, fixes, and workarounds to the field.
  • Participate in internal and external conference calls, providing clear technical explanations and guidance to customers, Lenovo project managers, and engineering teams.
  • Monitor and communicate updates on fix releases, ensuring timely and accurate information is shared with the field.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Fluent spoken and written English communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to customers and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven experience with Open Systems storage technologies, including Block, File (NFS/CIFS), and Object-based storage architectures.
  • Strong understanding of storage protocols and standards, such as iSCSI, SAS, SCSI, Fibre Channel, InfiniBand, FCoE, NVMe.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced storage functions, including external virtualization, data compression, mirroring, data deduplication, RAID technologies, and Erasure Coding.
  • Hands-on experience with operating systems commonly found in Open Systems environments, such as VMware, Windows Server, Red Hat
  • Previous experience in a support role within Block Storage environments.
