Description and Requirements
Lenovo is actively seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Workstation Development team. Qualified candidates will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Lenovo Workstation team's IT network, while assisting in the maintenance of vertically oriented workstation solutions. These solutions are the combination of Lenovo ThinkStation workstation products in addition to SW applications and HW peripherals to create turnkey solutions for vertical industries such as media and entertainment, manufacturing and engineering, health and medical, oil and gas, etc. Solutions can include AR/VR/MR, Artificial Intelligence, HPC, remote/virtual workstation, etc.
For this role you will be working with a combination of HW and SW solutions integrations pairing our workstation products with internal and external solutions like AI, VR, AR, etc. to create specific solutions for target vertical markets (manufacturing, media, entertainment, surveillance, etc.)
Responsibilities may include:
- Software understanding from a broad perspective (knowledge of C# / Java would be ideal)
- Device driver management /use / understanding
- Monitoring and maintaining our networks and File / Build / SVN servers
- Computer hardware understanding of subsystems
- CPU
- GPU
- Network
- Audio
- PCI-e bus
- Power management
- Upgrading, installing, and configuring new hardware and software to meet Lenovo’s objectives, as well as security needs.
- Ensuring compliance with security requirements and implementing security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats
- Supervising and monitoring our IT LAN
- Keeping up to date with advancements and best practices in IT administration
- Troubleshoot issues and outages
- Backup and restore data to prevent data loss
- Ensure that organizational data is secure
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a technical field
- Strong understanding of CI / CD pipelines and automation of manual processes.
- Working knowledge of windows scripting language as well as Python, Windows, Bash etc.
- Strong knowledge of Server OS (Windows & Linux), Client OS, Database, Security, System Recovery, and User Management.
- 5+ years of work experience with IT systems, networks, and related technologies.
- Solid knowledge of best practices in IT administration and system security.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Requirements or courses in the following areas:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science (EECS) is ideal.
- Desirable to have professional qualification, such as Microsoft, AWS, Oracle, or Cisco certification.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
