Global Role | Based in Asia (Hong Kong preferred)

The Role

As a Fortune Global 500 company with US$70+ billion in revenue, Lenovo’s vision is to become the leader in Smarter Technology through PCs, tablets, AR/VR, smart devices, infrastructure, and solutions and services that create the best user experience. We are looking for a talented communications leader for our Solutions and Services Group (SSG) to be a part of Lenovo’s evolution into a world-leading technology solutions company. 

The role will be (ideally) based in Hong Kong, and will collaborate closely with SSG and global communications and marketing teams around the world (including major sites in Beijing and North Carolina (USA).

Specifically, the role will focus on:

  • Developing leadership messaging around Lenovo’s solutions and services strategy and portfolio
  • Collaboration with functional teams including global marketing, product, design, user experience, corporate and local communications teams as well as external partners to align and implement communications strategy and messaging
  • Creating content to engage with external and internal audiences on key solutions, interpreting complex concepts into succinct and memorable narratives in all forms of written communications, as well as partnering with creative teams to develop compelling visual content
  • Motivate, inspire, and manage external agency partners and collaborate with regional and local communications and marketing teams on global media outreach, including thought leadership, solution launches and executive media
  • Designing, developing and implementing executive and internal communications programs on strategic topics

Characteristics

The successful candidate must:

  • Be INFLUENTIAL: Be able to operate through influence in a decentralized communications organization to achieve results and unify teams, as well as course-correct and influence stakeholders in a complex, matrixed, and dynamic environment against fast-breaking developments and timelines
  • Be an EXPERT communicator: Demonstrate superb written and verbal communications (writing samples will be required)
  • Be a TEAM player: Work seamlessly with global marketing and SSG product/leadership stakeholders to create highly engaging, strategically focused messaging and campaigns
  • Be ORGANIZED: Have strong project management skills in multitasking; able to juggle multiple priorities and take end-to-end ownership of projects
  • Be STRATEGIC: Be confident in building trust and strong relationships with the most senior leaders and combine the skills of strategic advisor with those of hands-on practitioner – able to make strategic, prudent decisions (at times without full information
  • Be HARDWORKING: Be a strategic thinker as well as a practical doer, comfortable getting things done despite limited resources
  • Be CURIOUS: Constantly challenge the status quo; be entrepreneurial in pursuing new communications ideas and better ways of storytelling – with a sharp eye for great creative and detail
  • BE CONFIDENT: Articulate, confident and tactful in interacting with senior leadership, from presenting an internal communications plan to facilitating executive press interviews
  • Be FLEXIBLE: Role will require extensive international travel
  • Be GLOBAL: Be respectful and effective in communicating across cultures, and flexible in accommodating teams across different time zones 
  • Be ACCOUNTABLE: Develop, measure and report on metrics that inform strategy and track performance.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in professional communications in both in-house and agency roles
  • Experience in the technology sector, specifically around services and solutions
  • Native-level English writer, with an understanding of Mandarin Chinese a plus
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, with the ability to summarize details quickly and sell ideas through presentation decks
  • Experience working in a geo/region or global role in multinational company / reaching global audiences
  • Experience with a wide range of marketing disciplines, and understanding of how to leverage paid, earned, owned and shared channels.
  • Ability to understand complex solutions and translate them into relevant and engaging messages.
  • Results oriented, with extensive experience in actionable communications measurement
  • Strong organizational, project management, analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience with senior leadership
  • Resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
