Description and Requirements

This is a worldwide position, part of the Global eCommerce Product Team. We are currently seeking a performance engineer experienced in analyzing and troubleshooting web page load issues. This position will be responsible for staying current on the latest performance metrics, testing, and monitoring technologies to provide support to worldwide IT and content creation organizations. This performance engineer will manage the identification, root cause analysis, and possible solutions for existing eCommerce functionality and content on more than 6000 web sites in 36 countries spanning 4 geography teams and various IT teams around the world including China, India, Argentina, US, and Malaysia. 

This role requires 5+ years of demonstrated web front-end development experience and 1+ performance analysis and debugging. This role can be remote but a candidate in/near Morrisville, NC would be preferred. 

Position Responsibilities:
• Drive the overall page speed analysis and troubleshooting efforts for all eCommerce technical and content delivery teams, functioning as a subject matter expert. 
 • Identify performance optimization opportunities, prioritize teams’ efforts, and provide impact analysis 
 • Collaborate with the eCommerce teams to share training and best practices as part of a Center of Excellence 
 • Work with user interface (UI/UX) team to drive efficiencies and generate requirements to improve page load outcomes. 
 • Evaluate 3rd party tag vendors’ code and service response for inefficiencies or breaches in service level agreements 
 • Monitor key metrics using a combination of real user monitoring (RUM) and synthetic monitoring tooling, looking for indications of inefficiency or bottleneck in web page loading 
 • Work with various customer experience (CX) teams to address page performance complaints of our customers 
 • Help create A/B testing scenarios of possible performance optimizations 

Position Requirements: 
• At least 5 years of web front-end development experience with JavaScript. Prefer experience working on large eCommerce websites
• At least 1 year of performance analysis and/or JavaScript debugging. 
 • Ability to use chrome debugger, time-line chart, and call stack explorer to find time consuming scripts. Additionally, be able to determine why (loops, repaints, excessive memory use etc) code is inefficient. 
 • Familiarity with common JavaScript libraries like jQuery, Angular, and React is a plus. 
 • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering or other code quality methodologies 
 • Experience with Google Lighthouse metrics, including web vitals, is essential 
 • Experience with A/B testing and synthetic testing 
 • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment where innovation is expected 
 • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and time-lines 
 • Experience at working virtually both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential 
 • Strong self-initiative with the ability to identify areas of improvement with little direction 
 • Fine attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate end-results 
 • Strong Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) skills 
 • Experience with JIRA or similar production tools for issue tracking and bug resolution 
 • Excellent communication skills are crucial since this position will work with multiple cross-functional teams in multiple time zones 
 • Possess a positive attitude and ability to work in a collaborative and energetic team environment
