Description and Requirements

Lenovo’s IBM Global Account Team is seeking a Sales Director to lead our partnership with IBM Cloud, a valued customer. The Sales Director will lead an extended team in delivering differentiated value and an exceptional client experience to IBM while growing the business overall.

 
The Sales Director will develop and maintain relationships within IBM Cloud, including senior level management and across all areas of the business, cultivating a deep understanding of IBM Cloud’s business, technology, and operational objectives and challenges, and leveraging Lenovo strengths to deliver value.

Working collaboratively with the IBM Global Account Managing Director and the IBM Cloud Account Team, the Sales Director will develop the account strategy and execute against all client requirements with a continued focus on growth and Lenovo differentiation.
This is a high-profile client facing sales role requiring the ability to identify, cultivate, and close new business. The successful candidate will have the knowledge and experience to identify and lead large, complex opportunities and relationships at senior levels within IBM and Lenovo, while leading the extended team in executing flawlessly across all operational and support aspects of our business.

The position is remote, with frequent client travel including but not limited to Texas, New York, California, and Washington DC.

Key responsibilities:

1. Customer Relationship Management:
  • Take full accountability for client satisfaction and achieving account growth objectives.
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of IBM Cloud's business, technology, and operational challenges and use Lenovo's strengths to address complex issues.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the client's organization, including mid and senior-level executives, decision-makers, influencers, and business partners.
2. Revenue Growth and Account Strategy:
  • Deliver against aggressive revenue and profit targets, ensuring an exceptional client experience and driving account growth.
  • Identify and nurture opportunities for growth, enhancing the Lenovo-IBM Cloud partnership.
  • Strive to outperform competitors, capturing maximum market share for Lenovo.
3. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead an extended team comprising sales, technical, supply chain, support, and other professionals to achieve account objectives and meet client requirements.
  • Develop and execute the overall account plan.
  • Facilitate and lead complex negotiations in a competitive environment.
4. Thought Leadership and Advocacy:
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic direction to the team and extended team dedicated to this account.
  • Foster internal alignment and advocacy as necessary to meet IBM's requirements.

Basic Requirements:
  • BS or BA degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years in Data Center sales.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Strong business and technical acumen, sales intuition, and ability to make strategic business recommendations and decisions.
  • Successful track record of exceeding sales objectives in the Data Center or Cloud Service Provider (CSP) business. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proven experience in strengthening existing customer relationships in large complex accounts and in cultivating new relationships with influencers and decision makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Creativity and sound business judgment in developing innovative solutions.
  • Collaboration skills to lead an extended team across various disciplines and motivate them to achieve aggressive goals. Ability to anticipate and clearly define problems, logically diagnoses causes, identify or create solutions, create action plans, engage support as needed, and follow through to resolution
  • Proactive and able to work independently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail across multiple workstreams.
  • Intimate knowledge of IBM Cloud and Lenovo a plus.
  • Willing and able to travel frequently within the US to all customer and internal meetings.
  • Absolute integrity and the willingness to provide feedback in challenging situations.

The base salary range budgeted for this position is $161,000 - $230,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonuses and/or commissions. Lenovo's various benefits can be found at www.lenovobenefits.com.
