Job Overview:

Lenovo’s legal department is looking for talented, highly motivated, and dynamic IP Paralegal and Operations Specialist to join our IP team.

We are looking for someone who is an outstanding paralegal and operations specialist with demonstrated experience in patent processes and operations. You will manage all docketing of IP applications, including Chinese and ROW patent filings and copyrights. You will be partnering with inventors and patent portfolio managers across our global IP sites.

Job Responsibilities (Essential functions and duties):

  • Organize and drive initiatives to enhance global patent operation databases workflows (e.g. new systems, applications, tools, policies, processes, team development).
  • Developing best practices and internal SOP’s for ensuring high-functioning patents filing and copyrights.
  • Working within, monitoring, and maintaining global patent operation databases, i.e. IPFolio, on daily basis to ensure accuracy and completeness of records.
  • Filing and prosecution process management by data analysis.
  • WW outside counsel management.
  • Preparing and obtaining required signatures for patent portfolio documentation (assignments and declarations) and building processes to ease workload to inventors. 
  • Assisting with on-boarding and training new staff members, key stakeholders and other partners on filing practices, processes, systems/tools, databases, resources, and standards.
  • Patent & copyright certificate and data management for timely response to needs from business clients
  • Staying current on changing requirements of CNIPA and fees and developing proactive alignment of filing practices.
  • Developing best practices and internal SOP’s for ensuring high-functioning licensing opportunities team and processes.
Job Requirements – Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies (KSACs):

  •  Extensive experience in China, the US, and other international patent filing procedures and rules.
  •  Must be proactive, self-disciplined and able to work independently and globally in a virtual team.
  •  Ability to prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent tasks and assignments.
  •  Ability to work with precision and accuracy.
  •  Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  •  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  •  Excellent Mandarin and English language skills, both written and verbal.
