Description and Requirements
Lenovo’s legal department is looking for talented, highly motivated and dynamic Senior Project Specialist to join the Lenovo SEP Team.
As a Senior Project Specialist within our SEP Team, you will play a critical role to lead the delivery of projects ranging from third-party patent offensive reviews, automating SEP workflows and processes such as IPR declarations, to implementing software to facilitate the SEP team in reviewing the latest legal and case law updates, and supporting in Open Source Compliance (OSC). You will partner with Lenovo Patent Portfolio Managers, Licensing Attorneys/Executives, Litigation Attorneys, Technical Leads, and Lenovo Leaders across our global sites, including in the US, China, and Singapore. Supporting the Lenovo Standard-essential Patent (SEP) Team to manage and docket Lenovo's important and valuable SEP Portfolio, which comprise wireless patents relating to 4G, 5G, 5G+ cellular standards
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute projects from initiation to project closure, including managing project timelines, project deliverables and potential risks to ensure projects stay on track and fulfill stakeholders’ expectations
- Automate SEP operational workflows, including tracking and reporting our SEP portfolio numbers to top management, submitting IPR declarations to standard-setting bodies e.g. ETSI, and classifying Lenovo SEPs according to the relevant standards taxonomy
- Support Lenovo Patent Portfolio Managers, Lenovo Licensing Attorneys/Executives, and Lenovo Litigation Attorneys in third parties patent offensive reviews in pursuit of generating revenue through patent assertions
- Implement software to facilitate the Lenovo SEP Team in reviewing the latest legal and case law updates globally
Basic Job Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience in managing projects related to IP or patents.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Highly proficient in project management principles and IT software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and ability to design macros in the MS Office Suite to increase work efficiency through automation.
- Must have some experience managing IP processes
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Must be proactive, self-disciplined and able to work independently, but also able to collaborate effectively and flexibility in a global team-oriented environment.
- Ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks and manage multiple, concurrent tasks and assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), China, US and other foreign patent filing procedures and rules is preferred.
North Carolina or Chicago are the preferred locations but will consider remote for the right candidate.
