Description and Requirements

The Industry Solutions Engineer will be a core team member developing and implementing various vertical solutions and offerings as part of the Solutions and Services Group (SSG). They will work with Solution Managers to implement technical processes for the design, integration, and validation of SSG solutions to ensure quality offerings that are efficiently brought to market. This position will require engagement with a broad set of stakeholders to ensure that engineering and CX requirements are met.

The candidate must be broadly skilled technically with the ability to become an expert in the hardware, software, support, and service of complex solution offerings. They must also be able to interact fluidly with internal and external teams, customers, partners, vendors, sellers, c-suite and industry leaders across multiple ecosystems to define technical aspects of end-to-end solution offerings and collaborate effectively to resolve problems and critical situations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end technical validation for assigned vertical solution offerings, including hardware, software, support, service, and vendor deliverables within defined schedule, budget, and processes.
  • Work with sales, marketing, vertical leaders, solution owners and engineering to gather solution requirements directly from customers via onsite visits, briefings, focus groups, MVP testing, and industry conferences, and translating those into actionable engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate directly with customers, partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders face-to-face and remotely to resolve technical, CX/UX, and service issues quickly.
  • Grow and maintain understanding of industry ecosystems and trends to support the growth of our solutions portfolio.
  • Identification and clear communication of root cause and resolution of technical issues.
  • Assess technical capabilities of potential external vendor/partners, and coordinate oversight of 3rd party engineering, testing, or technical documentation.
  • Stay current with broad set of hardware and software, and new technologies, products, or vendors which may provide revenue opportunities or unique capabilities for future solutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree or experience.
  • 5+ years in a technical support, engineering or solution architecture role.
  • Technical Experience with the use of at least one of the following: AndroidOS, mobile platforms, Windows 10, or Lenovo laptops/tablets/displays.
  • Experience working with customers to solve technical issues.
  • Ability to contribute to internal design proposals, specifications, RFPs, and test strategies.
  • Ability to complete work independently with little supervision in a team/collaboration environment.
  • Travel Percentage: 15%

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or similar technical degree.
  • 2+ years in engineering role delivering retail, education, smart workplace or eSports vertical solutions.
  • Technical knowledge and debug experience with one or more of the following: AndroidOS, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.), Lenovo servers/workstations/laptops/tablets/displays, commercial AR/VR, or league gaming/eSports.
  • Experience in gathering of customer and stakeholder requirements and translating them into technical/business requirements for solutions.
  • Ability to provide meaningful input to roadmaps, solution design, and development strategies to win customer business.
  • Strong capability to create solution development processes using advanced methodologies and tools such as lean/agile, Kanban, Jira, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.
  • High degree of creativity in finding new ways to execute and improve effectiveness.
  • Ability to lead solution development efforts, present technical proposals to executives and customers, and showcase Lenovo design and engineering capability.
