Description and Requirements

Lenovo Value Recovery (LVR) is an exciting new business unit dedicated to the circular economy through the reuse, refurbishment and redeployment of hardware solutions.  LVR operates as a small start up company within Lenovo and is given the autonomy to create the global operational infrastructure needed to support this new business unit.   This newly formed team is made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds in product development, customer sales and support, finance and supply chain operations.

The LVR Strategy Project Manager will support strategic projects as defined by the LVR Chief Strategist.  These projects will primarily be focused on initiatives to drive future, scalable growth for LVR and Lenovo.  The ideal candidate for this role will need to have a proven record of project management skills and experience and be able to demonstrate past successes in the implementation of projects across organizations and geographies.  The candidate must display strong leadership and communication skills to effectively drive project teams worldwide.  Candidates for this role will need to be accustomed to working in a fast paced, “start up company” environment in which they will need to perform multiple duties beyond the scope of their role as defined.  Candidates will need to be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently to define and close complex workstreams with urgency. 

Summary of Responsibilities: 

  • Create and own end to end project plans for assigned projects including defining schedules, core team members, IT requirements, business management system to communicate status and drive updates with the team.
  • Recognize upcoming project challenges and risks, and define mitigation plans to minimize these risks
  • Define plans to transition projects to execution teams when projects are completed
  • Collaborate with cross organization teams and functions world wide
  • Support the LVR chief strategist as needed to create business plans and presentations

Candidates need to be based in the Morrisville, NC area for this role. 

Basic requirements:

• 7+ years of leading global teams

• 7+ years of project management experience

• 7+ years’ experience working in the technology industry

• 7+ years operations experience

• 7+ years’ experience with complex global transformation/implementation with infrastructure design

Preferred skills:

  • Pioneering skills – willingness to think and execute outside the box with strong sense of urgency to meet critical deadlines
  • PMI Certification
  • Leadership skills - proven experience leading and driving a matrixed team across multiple regions; experience leading teams through change and uncertainty
  • Exceptional project management skills with the proven ability to lead complex projects, on schedule and within budget
  • Strong business acumen with high level understanding of financial reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across cultures, peers and executives
  • Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic environment in which infrastructure and processes may not be completely defined
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve complex problems
  • Capability to build strong and effective working relationships across functional teams world wide
  • Proven decision making skills based on compilation of facts and historical data
