What You’ll Do: 

We are looking for a technician with a background in server technologies for a position as part of the Product Assurance team in Lenovo’s ISG group. The role will require experience with servers, as well as server options and operating systems in order to validate unique customer requests for additional features, HW, OS’s, etc.  The engineer will work directly with the marketing teams as well as customers to configure and validate as per requirements in the Product Assurance lab.

Responsibilities include gathering requirements, and required HW, configuring servers and updated to required code levels, validation of features / functions, generating test reports, and reporting status

Applicants must have some experience in one or more of the following: Server operating systems (Linux, VMWare, Windows server), networking, internal storage (NVME, Raid, HBA’s), or GPU’s.


  • Setup, configuration, maintenance of customer configurations
  • Test Plan creation
  • Test execution
  • Documenting defects and working with development on debug efforts

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of configuring, maintaining servers
  • Knowledge of server OS’s (Red Hat, SuSE, Windows, VMware)
  • Experience in Networking (IPv6 / v4, Virtualization, InfiniBand, etc.)

Preferred Experience:
  • Server installation and/or firmware update
  • Understanding of server HW, and server FW functions (XCC/BMC and UEFI)
  • SAN (FC, iSCSI, block vs file, etc.)
  • CPU / Memory compatibility testing
  • Intel and AMD architecture and command injection, use of Intel / AMD tools (ITP)
  • Additional skills a plus:
    • Component level soldering (including surface mount and BGA)
    • Familiarity with Lenovo ThinkSystem Servers / RAS features,
    • X-Clarity administrator
    • NetApp Storage
    • Shell scripting capability
    • Automation development coding ability (Python preferred)
    • Enterprise level SW (Lenovo X-Clarity, HP OpenView, etc.)
    • Mandarin / Spanish
    • Protocol level debugging (network traces)
