We are hiring a recent college graduate to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer. The target start date for this role will be Spring 2025.
In this role you will develop server products and work alongside experienced engineers who will help train and mentor you as you grow with Lenovo. You will also work on product design from the concept stage to market availability and field sustainability. Your creativity and attention to detail will be essential for success in this role. Responsibilities:
- Design integration of server electronics including CPU motherboard, storage, GPUs, adapter cards, power supplies, and other components.
- Create innovative but cost-effective ways of electronics packaging by designing sheet metal, die-cast and injection molded plastic parts and assemblies.
- Work closely with electrical engineers to collaborate on the mechanical layout of circuit cards.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines such as thermal engineering, power engineering, electromagnetic compatibility engineering, interconnect engineering, safety, human factors, and others to optimize product design.
- Utilize robust design techniques to ensure the product meets rigorous shock and vibration requirements.
- Work with the product development team to deliver designs that meet worldwide compliance and regulations.
- Become knowledgeable of sheet metal and injection molding tooling.
- Document designs with 2D drawings.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Ability to work onsite at our Morrisville, NC location
- Completed MET AAS courses including CAD I, II, III, Mechanisms, and Intro in Solid Modeling
- Three-dimensional computer design skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn PTC Creo CAD tool and PTC Windchill for CAD data file management
- Strong communication skills for negotiating design details that support the product delivery team’s objectives
- Experience using Microsoft products including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Creative thinking, problem-solving capability, leadership skills, and teaming skills
