Description and Requirements

The OEM Customization Test Engineer utilizes Proof of Concepts, performs Benchmark Testing and Validation, and evaluates Partner Solutions in order to meet customer requirements. The Engineer in this role works closely with solutions architects, project managers, and sales teams, as well as incorporating 3rd party products and enclosures, to help OEM customers to validate technical solution requirements. The engineer in this role also works with the product development teams and is responsible for providing input to these teams based on specific testing and certifications.

While Lenovo’s OEM business leverages its existing portfolio of products, there are many opportunities to customize offerings for unique OEM solutions. The OEM Customization Test Engineers in this technical pre-sales/relationship role work to develop technical relationships with key alliance partners, suppliers, and integrators in the ecosystem to ensure Lenovo is in the best technical posture to meet the needs of the customer.

What You'll Do:

The OEM Customization Test Engineer performs tests on Proofs of Concept (PoCs) of customer solutions that utilize Lenovo Workstations, Desktops, and Edge computing devices, configured in collaboration with OEM Solutions Architects and the OEM Sales teams.

These tests include, but are not limited to:

    • software/hardware component compatibility
    • OS testing (including Windows and Linux)
    • performance benchmarking
    • power consumption testing
    • communications/protocol testing
    • certifications for components and operating systems used with Lenovo hardware

In addition to the above testing, the OEM Customization Test Engineer’s additional responsibilities include:

    • Participate in pre-sales customer issue debugging and data collection.
    • Provide technical assistance in compliance and certification of hardware and software for various industries and locations around the world.
    • Create and set up demos in-lab for customers to review POCs and benchmark results.
    • Stay engaged with internal & external teams while executing tests and participating in solution resolutions and new development
    • Evaluate customer solutions for optimization and best alignment to Lenovo products/services
    • Understand emerging technologies and products and Lenovo's strategies to address them
    • Collaborate with OEM Solution Architects, Customers, Sales team, and extended Lenovo teams while adding your knowledge to the OEM internal Forums
    • Be an owner of the lab – help with inventory, expense control, ordering test equipment, labeling/storing, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science degree or greater in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
    • Excellent, professional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Can work in person at the OEM Engineering Lab in Morrisville, NC.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in computer hardware/software testing (focused on workstations, edge devices, desktops).
    • Knowledge of PC hardware components and operating systems (Windows and Linux).
    • Basic scripting experience
