Description and Requirements
We are hiring a Summer 2025 Intern to join our team as a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Intern. This is a hybrid role based out of Morrisville, NC. The target start date will be Summer 2025.
This internship will allow the college student to get broad exposure to the engineering aspects of one of the largest computer manufacturers in the world. This internship will be hands-on work, where the intern will be assigned several real projects to complete during the summer session. It will also allow them to interact and engage with many different groups within Lenovo (Hardware team, Firmware team, Software team, Marketing, Thermal engineering, etc.) It will be fun and rewarding summer!
As a UEFI Intern, you will work with software engineers to write, debug and test embedded Firmware. Manage and maintain firmware build tools, manage builds, and release Firmware to test as well as recreate and fix problems reported by the test team. Duties may include code development, unit testing, debugging, and customer support for technical issues.

* In the process of obtaining a BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering
* Knowledge of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface
Preferred Qualifications:
* Embedded Firmware/Software Development
* Some Experience with the C programming language
* Some Experience with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) or BIOS
* Some Experience with Intel processors
* Some Experience with bring-up and hardware boot sequence
* Some Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
* Familiar with Intel Assembler
* Proficient with Git source version control system.
* Intimate knowledge of software development processes is expected.
* Knowledgeable of Agile methodologies and tools.
* Strong analytical and debugging methodology skills expected
* Proficient at recognizing complex problems related to functional objectives.
* Applies creativity and judgment to developmental work on different projects within the business environment.
* Analyze situations and implement solutions, or develop new system elements, procedures, or processes.
