Description and Requirements


Lenovo PS team is looking for a seasoned Solution Design Engineer with Project Management skills for Power and Cooling preferably based in the EU, including UK, to join its Global Professional Services team.

 

This position represents a rewarding opportunity to use your experience and skills in a dynamic, complex organization and to deliver across our major customer sites.

 

Your Responsibilities :

Power and Cooling Solution Design Engineer will be assigned one or more projects concurrently, and will be responsible to project manage and work effectively in in the following areas

  • Decipher complex RFP requirements related to facility power and cooling infrastructure and help IT architects design an IT solution that fits within those limitations.
  • Architect complex power and cooling solutions for air and water-cooled IT solutions.
  • Work with key stakeholders (customers or internal) requesting infrastructure enhancements to develop a clear understanding of requirements and success criteria.
  • Responsible for the design and development of liquid cooling systems for compute clusters and IT infrastructure using 3D modelling. Produce detailed 3D drawings and technical documentation leveraging Solidworks.
  • Drive simulations and analysis (CFD, Thermal, Power, Reliability) to improve flow and thermal performance and maximize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with sales and critical engineering subject matter experts to determine the solution scope and projected requirements.
  • Capture the solution description and review with key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineers and developers to ensure the tasks are well understood and acceptance criteria met.
  • Continue partnerships with internal or external customers to ensure the project goals and requirements are met. Proactively identify and manage suppliers, assessing their technology, capability, quality, cost, and delivery timelines. At times, get involved in the physical installation of complex IT system that are air or water-cooled.
  • Be able to provide engineering guidance over a wide range of disciplines (power/electrical, mechanical, thermal, plumbing, controls). Effectively project manage vendors contracted to provide separate pieces of the solution, including project managing delivery teams.

You should possess strong customer interaction skills and ability to make technical decisions. Collaborate during projects with several organization verticals, partners, and customers. They must also possess the following skills

  • Experience working in technology disciplines such as power/electrical or mechanical/thermal engineering.
  • Understanding of data center and IT solution power delivery architectures.
  • Understanding of data center and IT solution cooling architectures and heat transfer.
  • Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders and ability to drive issues to closure.
  • Advance experience with CAD drawing tools such as Solidworks
  • Experience in providing effective leadership in engagements as a technical consultant in the power and cooling subject matter area, with focus on DC design using 3D modelling tools
  • Develop training and knowledge base documentation for technical skills throughout career.
