Description and Requirements

Responsibilities include providing counsel and support broadly across a range of corporate legal matters for all Lenovo corporate entities, operations, and facilities in North America (US and Canada).  This involves working collaboratively with our Legal Contracts team and Corporate Legal Function specialists (Compliance, IP, Litigation, Employment, etc.).  Specific focus areas include local legal engagement on strategic projects and initiatives; support for sales teams on channel program management, eCommerce, and public sector engagements, across all products (PC, server, mobile and services); providing guidance on marketing (including advertising and contests); dispute resolution with vendors and customers; real estate matters; regulatory compliance; training and coordination on internal compliance; and corporate governance matters.  The candidate should be comfortable spotting and addressing legal risk in a fast-paced and large-scale commercial enterprise.  The candidate is expected to grow as a trusted business advisor and team member on mission-critical business initiatives.

  • JD degree
  • 8+ yrs relevant experience
  • Combination of in-house and outside counsel experience preferred
  • Technology company background (hardware, software, services) strongly preferred
  • Experience with complex contracts is required; experience with sales/distribution channels (resellers, retail, e-commerce) and public sector sales is preferred (firm)
  • Comfort handling a range of commercial and corporate legal topics
  • Ability to balance risk allocation and develop mitigation strategies
  • Strong and confident communication skills, with the ability advocate legal positions, and simplify complex legal issues into coherent, actionable business requirements
  • Experience engaging with senior executives and business leaders
  • Excellent collaboration, project facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Willingness to learn, lead and innovate
  • Experience engaging with colleagues and clients globally is preferred
