Description and Requirements

The Senior HRIS Analyst will be a key catalyst for enhancing primarily Workday HCM, Avature (ATS), and other HR Technology functionalities at Lenovo. This role will provide Workday product and design expertise to internal partners and customers. The Senior HRIS Analyst will work with all functional HR areas to make recommendations, manage project deliverables, understand and document business requirements, configure and test the Workday solution. In addition, a key area of responsibility will be to serve as a mentor and coach to other members of the HRIS Project and Operations Teams, helping to answer questions and proactively train and teach core Workday skills. Finally, as the global expert in Workday HCM, this position will provide thoughtful analysis, consideration and oversight of all major HCM change requests, while driving innovation and best practices. This role will enjoy a large degree of autonomy and empowerment, thus the ideal candidate will show an instinctual sense of prioritization and decide on the best next initiative to pursue.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Expert-level understanding of the Workday HCM product suite and methodologies (Pro or Partner certification desired, but not required)

• Develop positive relationships with customers and partners to ensure partner objectives and end user satisfaction are being met or exceeded.

• Ensure Lenovo takes advantage of Workday best practices and most recent functionality.

• Identify opportunities to optimize the functionality we own.

• Understand, clarify, challenge and assist in documenting business requirements.

• Configure & Test the Workday solution responsibly and knowledgeably.

• Demonstrate configuration through the development of prototypes.

• Lead knowledge transfer sessions, create formal and informal learning opportunities, serve as a resource for more junior colleagues.

Position Requirements: Knowledge and Skills

• Workday technical expertise (HCM, at a minimum, but must also be well versed in Reporting, Calculated Fields, Security, Business Process Configuration and Condition / Validation Rules. In addition, Performance, Talent, Advanced Compensation and Payroll knowledge would also be beneficial)

• Embraces a standard of excellence; intrinsically motivated

• Strong learning orientation; curiosity

• Superior communication: clear and concise explanations of functionality, instruction of others, active listening to customer needs

• Influencing; getting to the root cause of what customers need and convincing them of the best way to get there (even if it’s not exactly what they asked for)

• Strategic understanding of how data from HR systems are used

• Creativity, especially with regard to solutioning for complex configuration challenges and identifying non-obvious compromises to conflicting requests

• Problem-solving and critical thinking

• Passion for systems design

• Customer service orientation, tempered by a duty to uphold good systems design standards


• Minimum 2 years consulting experience or Minimum 3-5 year corporate level experience (firm)

• Workday Partner or Workday Pro Certifications (HCM, Compensation, Security)

• Workday global implementation experience (firm)

• Experience with multiple HCM applications
