Description and Requirements

Position Description:  Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group’s Product Security Office (PSO) is seeking a Senior Manager to join the PSO’s management team and serve as a first-line manager and coach to early-to-mid career staff, own product security initiatives, and directly contribute to maintaining a high-level of security in the products we provide to our customers.  This is a new position, joining a growing product security team in securing an expanding product and services portfolio and supporting the business’ evolving security needs.

This role is well suited to candidates that thrive on developing technical staff and enjoy wide-ranging tasks and challenges, with each day holding the potential for inspiring greatness, solving new problems, learning new things, or working with new teams, suppliers, partners, or technologies. 


This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the United States

Primary responsibilities:  This is inherently an expansive security management role, with the ideal candidate being able to inspire, motivate, coach, grow, manage, and lead early-to-mid career technical security staff across multiple disciplines, including penetration testing, vulnerability management, security analysis, test lab/tool management, and software development.   Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to multi-task, adapt, and service diverse security needs; own initiatives; directly contribute to delivery; and help shape organizational direction as part of the management team.

Representative responsibilities include:

  • Leading the team to achieve objectives and ensure high-quality delivery
  • Minimizing roadblocks and maximizing opportunities to keep the team productive, engaged, and fulfilled in their roles
  • Mentoring and supporting the team for career growth and performance, including via 1:1s, key performance indicators, performance reviews, and individual development plans
  • Maintaining an open, thoughtful, respectful, and collaborative team environment
  • Working with peers, security leadership, and cross-functional teams to align security execution with continually evolving business and market needs and expectations
  • Driving secure development lifecycle and process improvement initiatives
  • Researching, designing, developing, and implementing security best practices, standards, requirements, tactics, procedures, training materials, etc.
  • Helping to define organizational plans and objectives, budgets, staffing, etc.
  • Supporting security compliance activities
  • Supporting sales efforts, such as by responding to security-related aspects of RFPs, providing customer security briefings, originating security-related collateral, etc.

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Seven-plus (7+) years of hands-on experience in the security field, including:

  • Five-plus (5+) years of managing technical security staff as a people manager
  • Leading technical security projects
  • Originating security processes, standards, and requirements
  • Integrating security into pre-existing processes and technical environments
  • Practical experience implementing and/or supporting security standards, frameworks, and certifications such as BSIMM (Building Security In Maturity Model), NIST SP800-series, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST Secure Software Development Framework, ISO 27000-series, CIS Benchmarks, Common Criteria, FISMA/FedRAMP, and similar

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Work in or around Data Center environments, including experience securing enterprise-class server, storage, and networking hardware
  • Maturing secure software development lifecycles
  • Taking a product or process though a security certification
  • Working with geo-diverse teams across different time zones
  • Strong collaboration skills over application sharing platforms and teleconferencing
  • Technical consulting background

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • BS in information security, computer science, engineering, MIS, or similar degree programs
  • Security certifications: One or more of CISSP, CSSLP, CISM, or similar

Citizenship Requirement:

  • Must be a US citizen or US national; US permanent residents or candidates requiring sponsorship cannot be considered

Travel:

  • 5% (travel typically not needed, but possible on occasion post-COVID)


The base salary range for this position in Colorado, New York, Nevada and Washington is $180,000-$210,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonus . Lenovo’s various benefits can be found on www.lenovobenefits.com
