What You'll Do:
The OEM Lab Manager will engage with OEM customers, partners, sales, and Lenovo product teams to evaluate, understand, and drive technical requirements for complex OEM solution offerings. While Lenovo’s OEM business leverages its existing portfolio of products, there are many opportunities to customize and develop new offerings for unique OEM solutions, and the role of the Lab Manager is to evaluate and understand what is possible and how best to execute on the technical solution requirements. The Lab Manager will also develop technical relationships with key alliance partners, suppliers, and integrators in the ecosystem to ensure Lenovo is in the best technical posture to meet the needs of the market. The Lab Manager will have responsibility to identify the gaps in our portfolio and input requirements to Lenovo product development teams and will engage in specific testing and certifications for the OEM business.
The OEM Lab Manager will also have to build a strong relation with the manufacturing teams to ensure all our customizations project move through the various manufacturing process in a timely manner. You are Lenovo's technical arbiter with the customer, external partners, and with our internal teams.
Job Descriptions:
- Empower and lead a lab engineering team to conduct customer driven Proof of Concepts, Customer test Scenario’s, and providing Pre-Sales Customer support.
- Work with Manufacturing teams to create a process to support customization efforts for OEM customers.
- Understand and work with process control systems (e.g., Windchill, Factsheets, PCRs, Jira, etc.).
- Manage process execution and release methodologies within the MFG environment.
- Work with Local TE (test engineers) / QE (quality engineers) / ME (manufacturing engineers) / ITC and Special bids Teams.
- Define Test Automation process and Solutions for the lab engineering team.
- Define process flow for team’s duties and assigning tasks.
- Customization and support of various Linux distributions.
- Architect new ideas for Revenue generation via offering innovative engineering services and solutions.
- Leverage technologies including but not limited to Windows OS, Windows IOT, Linux Distros, Shell Script, Java, Python, Device drivers, BIOS customizations, Linux Kernel etc.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 - 7 years’ experience working in a PC industry.
- Proven record of managing a technical team and empowering members.
- Experience working with 3rd party suppliers (e.g., UV and Laser etching, logo stickers, packaging).
- Proven capacity to navigate and lead through unknown/not well-defined issues to resolution.
- Ability to work across teams to create repeatable, efficient processes where none exist.
- Vision and drive, grow and empower the team.
- Understanding of Custom services and Manufacturing processes.
- Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication, English, and reporting skills.
- Ability to travel 15%
