What You’ll Do: 

We are hiring a Senior Storage Subsystem Hardware Development Engineer in the ThinkSystem Development organization in Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Product Group (ISG) based in Morrisville, North Carolina. This is an exciting role in the Server I/O Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter. The engineer in this role will lead the design and development of storage subsystem designs for our server portfolio including our backplane architecture. The engineer will perform activities including component selection, schematic design, support of PCB layout floor-planning/routing and early power-on qualification working with support of our worldwide development team. The ThinkSystem portfolio provides exposure to the latest storage technologies to meet market demands now and in the future. This candidate will become an active member of the development team that is highly motivated to engage, understand and solve the technical challenges of today and shape the server designs of tomorrow.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • 10+ years of in-depth experience in server/storage hardware development/design
  • 10+ year of experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation, support Physical design activity and then define/perform low level hardware validation
  • Experience in leading engineers/team wrt technical direction and product development
  • Ability to triage and resolve complex hardware issues and provide guidance to other engineers who are assigned tasks related to the problem investigation
  • Strong organizational skills to lead server storage subsystem designs and architecture across the development team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, including customer engagements, architecture design/feedback, and executive updates

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 15+ years of hardware development experience in server storage architecture and hardware design
  • Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems. Experience with OS virtualization is a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership on a project with engineering team members located in multiple geographies
  • Ability to provide mentorship to other engineers and support the growth and development of engineering talent applied to new technologies
  • Business acumen to engage with various functional teams required to take projects from concept to production
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation
