Description and Requirements

What you'll do: The position is a Hardware Development Engineer position in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Morrisville, North Carolina. This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market. Opportunities on the team include developing innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands. The role also entails solving unique client challenges through the custom development of solutions and direct engagement with customers. The candidate will become an integral and active member of a development team that is highly motivated to engage, understand and solve the technical challenges of today and shape the server designs of tomorrow.

Basic skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
Preferred skills:
  • Interest in x86 or AMD architecture and sub-system design, including CPU/memory/PCIe and RAID/Networking technologies 
  • Exposure to EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation and physical design activity
  • Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (BASH/Perl/Python and Windows Power Shell)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, including customer engagements, defect investigation, and executive updates
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with fluency in English
  • Ability to work in a team environment and passionate about learning new technologies and skills
  • Experience in x86 or AMD architecture and hardware design
  • Experience in embedded controllers (ex. PSOC, microcontroller), including schematic design and programming logic
  • Collaborative experience on projects across a global development organization
