Description and Requirements

The Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) Worldwide Inventory team is responsible for the management of all Lenovo ISG component and finished goods inventory in our manufacturing and distribution centers around the globe. The Senior Inventory Category Manager will have worldwide ownership over one or more categories of component or finished goods inventories. Examples of categories managed by the Inventory team include:

  • Server Commodities: CPU, SSD, HDD, Memory
  • Electronic Cards (ECAT): Motherboards, Feature Cards, Network Cards
  • Structural Components: Chasses, Cables, Mechanicals

The primary job duties of the Senior Inventory Category Manager include:

  • Developing accurate month-end and quarter-end inventory outlooks, updated weekly, for each category being managed.
  • Work with Finance as required for month-end closing activities
  • Determine Days of Inventory (DOI) targets for components within the categories being managed.
  • Partner with Business Planning, Order Execution, and Global Supply Management to develop strategies to achieve DOI targets and to optimize inventory holdings for each category.
  • Maintain best-in class levels of excess & obsolete (E&O) inventory for assigned categories.
  • Track inventory aging at all sites worldwide; report potential E&O inventory risks to the Worldwide E&O lead, and work with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization to develop and execute on plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Work with Commodity Management and Supply Management teams to understand inventory liability at sub-tier component suppliers. Identify opportunities to mitigate this liability where possible, and when this isn't possible work with the Worldwide E&O lead to budget these expenses.
  • Work with local manufacturing and distribution sites to facilitate the disposition of aged inventory through broker and scrap processes.
  • Collaborate with the WW Inventory team and other stakeholders across the organization to drive relevant business process improvement projects and improve data automation and visualization.

You will report to Director of Cloud Strategic Supply Chain Planning.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5-7 years experience in an Inventory Management role, with a responsibility for inventory optimization and/or risk management. Strong preference for experience in high-tech/enterprise computing environments.
  • Deep analytical skills: able to effectively manage large datasets and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects/programs to drive business improvement
  • Strong financial acumen with a clear understanding of how business decisions impact the bottom line
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English and Hungarian

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Adept at using BI visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, QLIK, Tableau)
  • Ability to code (VBA, SQL, Python)
  • Experience using/implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Previous experience working with server ECAT or structural components
