Description and Requirements

The Public Sector Higher Education Senior Sales Director is responsible for building, managing & leading PS Higher Education by overseeing, sales, operations & strategies for new & existing customers. You will be responsible for refining and bringing leadership to the current Public Sector GTM model to achieve overall revenue and profitability objectives for Lenovo. You will be responsible for developing, coaching & training the PS Sales Directors reporting to you as the 2nd line leader. The Senior Sales Director will educate teams on significant industry factors including competitive products, regulations, trends, customer needs, and pricing. This leader will provide a world-class partner experience and overall customer satisfaction. This leader is critical in influencing and executing the NA Reseller strategy across all Lenovo product lines and all routes with specific responsibility for the Tier 2 route to market delivering growth across our Infrastructure Solutions, Intelligent Devices, and Smart Verticals and Services portfolios. With support from Lenovo This role is responsible for working cross-functionally with key internal and external stakeholders to remain informed and educate others on current legislative policies and trends in higher education shaping technology decisions.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader motivated by an entrepreneurial environment with proven success delivering a structured business management system to run high-performance sales teams to deliver on all business objectives. You work well in a matrixed environment; are results oriented; driven by excellence; understand how technology partners operationalize their business and create relationships through executive level engagements. The Senior Director will develop the Higher Education sales strategies and set aggressive goals to grow key segments within which we compete.


Basic Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in a dynamic, highly competitive sales environment with extensive knowledge of and background in Higher Education
  • 5+ years of second line leadership experience
  • BA required / MBA preferred
  • Extensive travel required (~ 70%)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exceptional Technology acumen focused on Solutions Industry Knowledge (Infrastructure Solutions, Intelligent Devices, and Smart Verticals and Services portfolios)
  • Sales leadership experience in the IT industry, and the Public Sector space with the ability to work across all levels of business and IT contacts within very large and complex organizations
  • Strong knowledge and established relationships within HiED entities and channel partners
  • Exceptional sales leader with a focus on strong sales operations skills and the ability to build high level relationships internally and externally
  • Demonstrated team building experience, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple complex sales engagements concurrently
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, demonstrated team building, leadership and the ability to manage multiple complex sales engagements concurrently
  • Extensive knowledge of Public Sector business practices including relevant contracts, procurement processes, and requirements when selling to this highly-regulated market
  • Aptitude to hire quality talent and coach different selling styles
  • Excellent business and financial acumen required
