The Global eCommerce organization is embarking on a multi-year strategy to (1) transform our platform to a cloud-hosted, container-based microservice architecture and (2) expand offerings across customer segments of B2C, SMB, and B2B, product units of PC, Smart Devices, Mobile, and Data Center, and channels of marketplace, third-party offerings, and subscription services. 

As a Senior Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex web applications. The Senior Software Developer must be an expert with strong focus and understanding of Java and related technologies. To be successful, you must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced agile environment. This position requires strong leadership, design, and communication skills to effectively work with management, team members and business contacts.

Your Role:

  • Design, document and develop new programs or maintain existing programs based on specifications
  • Act as technical resource for an agile scrum team and actively participate in the project planning, sprint planning, daily scrum, and sprint review
  • Develop, implement, and maintain unit tests of programs
  • For the assigned applications, functional areas or projects:  Develop and maintain thorough system knowledge. Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting. Facilitate functional test planning and testing.  Work with the team to maintain system quality
  • Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise, best practices, newer frameworks, and patterns related to all technologies (Backend + Frontend)
  • Mentor other Software Engineers through the software development process  

Required Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in a development experience in high-volume, customer-facing websites
  • 6+ years hands-on development experience with Java, Spring, Nodejs, UI Design in JavaScript/CSS/HTML, micro-services, caching strategies, and performance profiling tools
  • Bachelor’s degree with affiliated university
  • Experience working with online technologies such as Google Analytics, Tealium, and Akamai CDN
  • A high-quality bar with just-enough documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, continuous integration and deployment and a preference for Agile methods
  • Strong communication, partnering skills and proven leadership
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skill; deal with ambiguity in fast-paced e-business environment 
  • Able to work across various time zones; off hours and long hours as needed
  • Clear sense of accountability and ownership
  • Focused on goals and the overall team and company objectives
