Description and Requirements

Lenovo Strategic Alliances is seeking an experienced relationship leader to define, negotiate, and execute new partnerships that expand on our current portfolio of the largest and most influential technology partners.  This is a new role that will be a critical member of Lenovo’s Corporate Strategic Alliances team organization representing Lenovo across all business units and Geographies.

The Strategic Alliance Director will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a small set of named IT services partners. Success in this role will require expert insight into the global technology landscape and the ability to identify and develop opportunities of mutual interest to Lenovo and the partner ecosystem.  It will also require a candidate with strong executive presence: comfortable making executive-level presentations, navigating complex and complicated situations, working through challenges, and positively influencing senior decision makers.

This role will not have direct reports but will require coordination across a large number of stakeholders at both corporate and regional levels.  As such, the right candidate must have proven success developing strong relationships and influencing without authority.  This role will have a large amount of independence so will require a self-starter that can operate with autonomy to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a complex, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities will include

  • Managing network of alliance partner relationships with Lenovo to provide a best of breed experience for our partners
  • Owning all aspects of the engagement with named partners
  • Building strong, sustainable relationships at executive levels with partners and within Lenovo
  • Analyzing strategies of partners and Lenovo, developing strategic opportunities in areas of overlapping interest, agreeing on initiatives, defining success metrics, executing, and reporting results to executive stakeholders
  • Driving Lenovo’s global growth through investment, pricing, marketing, and product development with our strategic partners
  • Maximizing vendor investment and Lenovo preference in partner strategy
  • Negotiating, tracking, and managing execution of joint marketing, sales, and development programs
  • Hosting business reviews between Lenovo and partners to evaluate performance and explore new strategic opportunities
  • Working with supply chain, legal, and compliance to ensure successful partner engagement

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship, and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of business and technical aspects of strategic relationships 
  • Experience managing business relationships or channel partners
  • Experience negotiating large partnership deals
  • Strong understanding of IT services market
  • Ability to act independently and have a hands-on approach
  • Able to think critically about key business and technical challenges, weigh in on risk factors, and produce practical solutions to achieve business objectives
